PASSING: Understands when to move the puck quickly. Doesn’t force plays. SHOOTING: Quick release. Has ability to get puck away when opportunities arise. Heavy one timer. DEFENSE: Has tools to be responsible. Average away from the puck and defensive zone detail. Not great tracking. COMPETITIVENESS: Continued to drive offence when score started to get out of hand. Doesn’t disappear when game gets difficult. Competes for ice. HOCKEY IQ: Shows strong understanding of where scoring opportunities develop. OVERALL COMMENTS: Offensive minded center who scored 2 goals with 5 SOG. Was 3/11 on faceoffs. Has legitimate scoring ability and competitive edge. Scored 2 power plays including one with a heavy one timer showing a quick, accurate release. Plays with a competitive mentality. Comfortable playing center but faceoffs are below average. Doesn’t shy away from the puck in important situations. Not a high end skater but has enough acceleration to have separation speed. Understands spacing and timing to attack open ice. Defensive reads are limited and play away from the puck leaves a lot to be desired. Tracking is also poor. Doesn’t have the ability to beat defenders 1 v 1 but able to change pace and positioning ro create opportunities.

Confidence moving the puck. Has vision to make play and identify options on exits. PUCK HANDLING: Has poise on puck to move it when first option is not available. Confident carrying puck. Strong stick positioning to control and dictate where opponent goes. Physically competitive with high defensive awareness. Comfortable moving the puck to teammates on exits and up ice on transition. Doesn’t panic under pressure. Has strong defensive reads and shows good awareness on when to step up on opponents and when to retreat. Biggest challenge is to when to engage physically and when to use positioning and skating instead of running around looking for a big head to take self out of position. Doesn’t provide much offensively.

Excellent first pass. Generally doesn’t hold on to puck and moves it. Makes easy outlet pass. SHOOTING: Ok shot. Not a big shooter. Looks to pass more. PUCK HANDLING: Very comfortable with puck. Doesn’t appear rushed when under pressure. Carries puck when open ice available. DEFENSE: Plays with solid defensive engagement. Willing to get involved physically. Shows strong stick positioning. Competes for loose pucks. Has mobility to close time and space. COMPETITIVENESS: Competes for position and contested ice. Doesn’t shy away from contact. OVERALL COMMENTS: Mobile puck moving RHD. 27 mins TOI. 4 blocked shots. 6 giveaways. 15 take aways. 1 assist. Set up teammate for goal on PP with quick pass on the tape for a goal. Has excellent first step ability that allows to close gaps quickly and get up the ice on transition. Excellent first pass ability on exits. Plays with a strong competitive mentality that is willing to get physically engaged. With high ice time, wasn’t trying to survive shifts but was still able to drive transition and contribute defensively. Has good strength but isn’t going to overwhelm opponents and was evident at times when defending at the net front. Deceptive enough to manipulate forecheckers and create enough space to make next play. QBs the PP but is more of a contributor than a bomber from the top.

Has ability to connect plays. Sees secondary options when opponents close quickly. Distributes puck effectively off of cycle. SHOOTING: PUCK HANDLING: Comfortable carrying puck through traffic. Uses hands effectively to protect puck. Can make plays in tight areas. No deception to beat opponents 1 v 1 DEFENSE: wiling to contribute defensively. Generally understands responsibilities away from the puck. Average D zone details. Seems lost at times in zone when puck starts around zone. SIZE/STRENGTH: Ok functional strength in battles. Uses frame to protect puck. Strong enough to maintain balance under pressure. COMPETITIVENESS: High compete level most shifts. Effective on forecheck. Brings energy and intensity. OVERALL COMMENTS: Two way center. 1 assist. +1. 25% on faceoffs. Displays strong skating ability, vision and puck skills. Effective supporting the rush and showed ability to recognize playmaking opportunities quickly. Frame gives strong physical foundation but doesn’t use size effectively especially in puck battles and around the net. Defensively, can contribute but gets lost at times especially when puck is being moved around his own zone. Needs to improve strength to be able to be imposing physically. Makes good decisions quickly while in transition and shows the ability to anticipate developing offensive opportunities. Not a deceptive player when puck is on stick and when trying to make plays. Had 0 shots on goal so was not a shooting threat when had puck in offensive zone. Was poor on faceoffs going 3/12. This could be part of strength issue. Skates with strong enough pace to support off the rush.

Comments: SKATING: Plays with pace. Stride provides decent coverage to get around ice. Not explosive or dynamic. Picks up speed efficiently. PASSING: Capable of making appropriate play. Not a primary distributor. Makes simple play. SHOOTING: Actively looks to get pucks on net. Ok release. DEFENSE: Strong defensive tools because of size and willingness to compete. Provides pressure on opposing players. Useful along the walls. Positioning and awareness away from the puck is average. SIZE/STRENGTH: Solid frame. Plays through contact. Has physical foundation to be difficult to defend. Battles along walls and uses strength to establish net front presence. COMPETITIVENESS: Plays with an edge. Uses frame effectively. Competes for space. Drives play through contact. Battles for loose pucks. OVERALL COMMENTS: Power forward with offensive upside. 15 pims. 1 goal. Scored goal by driving and attacking the net with the puck to score. Mobile enough to play with pace and be heavy on the forecheck. Plays a strong physical game with a high compete level. Has willingness to get to the net (as seen on his goal) and plays through contact. Not a creative playmaker but makes the simple play. Has an ok release on shot. Has physical presence to establish position around the net. Puck skills are limited so doesn’t drive play off the rush when puck on stick. Straight line speed is an above average but can cover ice efficiently once gets feet moving. Overall an effective player who has the physical tools to become a true power forward than a flashy high end skilled player.

OVERALL COMMENTS: Two way forward with a combination of skill and compete level. 1 goal. 6 shots on goal. Scored goal by providing a strong net front presence and driving home the rebound. Has a strong combination of shooting and competiveness. Plays with an edge high level of physicality. Shows strong mobility and can drive play through open ice, while passing ability and vision allow to create offence and support teammates. Shot is a major asset with a quick release. Competes hard in puck battles and has the strength to protect the puck when hit. Defensively, positioining and play away from the puck are average and could be an asset if improved to become a desirable 2 way center.
