FREE: Neutral Zone: Six Standouts from Day 3 of Junior Chowder Cup

Over the course of last week, Neutral Zone’s Mark Bilotta attended the Junior Chowder Cup in Boston, Mass. As the event progressed, Bilotta made multiple videos highlighting his standout players on individual days.

On July 27, the championship day for both Elite divisions, it was 101 Percent Always (2009-born) and the Boston Junior Blues (2008-born) who emerged victorious.

“Congratulations to both teams,” Billota remarked. “A few players on this list also made the playoffs.”

Here are six standout players from day three of the Junior Chowder Cup:

Jayden Napon, F, Montreal Nationals

“He was one of the more impressive forwards we saw in this entire tournament. He was really skilled. He was on the all-tournament team, which doesn’t come as a major surprise to us. He is a big, strong forward. He ‘s able to go straight to the net. He’s strong on his edges, is able to protect the puck efficiently. Scored a really nice goal in front of the goal that we were watching where he roofed one. He’s a really athletic and really impressive forward.”

Dominic Schnarr, F, Bishop’s College

“He was really good here playing for Montreal in the ’08 division. He’s tall, he’s lean, he’s athletic. He has a good stride that he’s continuing to add more strength to and it’s going to only grow his game even further. He has good touch around the net. Was able to score as well from a couple of points on the back door. He was really effective here this weekend.”

Brody Najim, F, Cushing Academy

“Boy, did he have himself a heck of a Saturday. Scored a hat trick in the game that we watched and scored twice on the same play moving up ice on the breakaway. He was able to cruise around the right defenseman and hold him off on the way to the net and absolutely fire a pellet well placed into the back of the net. Well done by Brody.”

Kage Flory, D, Little Caesars

“He’s a player that we’ve noted in the past at the 14U age. He’s going to be playing for Little Caesars this year, moving on from the Jr. Sabres and his game looks to taken a step forward from what we last saw of him last year. Has an even harder shot. He was able to quickly pinch in to make plays offensively. He was really effective at both ends of the ice, taking away spots in the defensive zone. He looked good here.”

Alex Forrest, D, Oakville Rangers

“He was a really athletic and mobile defenseman from the back end. He was able to shorten the transition window for his squad. He showed good footwork as well, his crossover was strong. He made good decisions on the rush and did not put the puck in bad areas. Well, done Alex.”

Ethan Bodie, G, Black Knights Academy

“He was really effective here. Not the biggest goaltender we saw on the weekend but what we really liked about his game was his ability to move laterally and shut plays down. There were a couple of plays here where it looked like the play moving across would be an easy goal, but he was able to stretch out and knock plays out with his pad or get a glove on it as well. He looked really good this weekend.”
