Marlin Muylaert promoted to Neutral Zone Director of Canadian Scouting

Former NCAA, CIS coach and OHL scout to lead all Canadian amateur scouting efforts

PORT PERRY, Ontario – Neutral Zone, LLC., today announced the promotion of Marlin Muylaert to the position of Director of Canadian Scouting.  Muylaert, who previously focused on scouting the Ontario region as Director of Ontario Scouting, will now coordinate Neutral Zone’s scouting efforts across all of Canada.

“We’re excited to have Marlin transition to a larger role with Neutral Zone and lead our amateur scouting throughout all of Canada’s key hockey markets,” said Brendan Collins, Director of Scouting with Neutral Zone. “Neutral Zone has grown significantly since forming in 2015, and our scouting reports and rankings are being utilized by NHL, major junior and NCAA organizations throughout the United States and Canada, as well as a variety of other teams, coaches and player advisors. Due to increased demand, we are making a series of organizational adjustments, including the promotion of Marlin.

“Marlin’s scouting performance in the Ontario region, combined with his track record and reach throughout Canadian hockey, position Neutral Zone extremely well to continue to strengthen its coverage of amateur hockey and produce high quality, reliable information for those interested in following amateur hockey across Canada,” added Collins.

Neutral Zone’s Canadian scouting coverage focuses primarily on bantam and midget-aged players who are eligible for the OHL, WHL or QMJHL drafts, as well as junior players who are NCAA-eligible.

Prior to joining Neutral Zone, Muylaert served as a scout for the Owen Sound Attack of the OHL and as a head coach in both the CIS and NCAA at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, University of Guelph, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and Ohio University, respectively.

Muylaert’s direction of the Ontario region will transition to fellow Ontario Neutral Zone scout, Paul O’Hagan, starting immediately.

“Paul O’Hagan is an obvious choice to assume the position of Director of Ontario Scouting,” said Muylaert. “He’s a former Memorial Cup winner at the CHL level with the Oshawa Generals, was a captain in CIS hockey with the University of Guelph – leading his team to an Ontario championship and multiple Canadian championship appearances, he was an NHL Draft selection, and has a tremendous eye for evaluating hockey talent.  Not to mention Paul brings great leadership qualities to the table. I’m convinced Paul will do an exceptional job for Neutral Zone and its followers.”
