OHL: Mitchell Martin Signs with Kitchener

The Kitchener Rangers have signed 2019 fourth-round pick Mitchell Martin.

‘A big winger with enough speed and skill to get to good shooting lanes,” said Neutral Zone scouts. “Martin was among the leading goal scorers in the (OHL Gold Cup) and showed an excellent shot when he freed up in shooting lanes. Martin had a productive tournament offensively and showed strong board play and a strong forecheck. We liked his puck hound skills and ability to use his reach to turnover pucks in the offensive zone.”

Martin, 17, has 54 points (21 goals, 33 assists) in 47 games for the Rayside-Balfour Canadians in the NOJHL this season. Mitchell has good size at 6-foot-3 and 185 pounds.

“We are excited to welcome Mitchell to the Rangers family. He has had a very good year and has shown he is ready to make the jump to the OHL next season,” said Rangers general manager and interim head coach Mike McKenzie.

“He is a big, strong, and tough player that also has very good skills and offensive ability. He will fit well with our already strong group of young players.”
