’99 D Kevin Sadovski commits to Merrimack for 2020
The Utica Comets (NCDC) announced that defenseman Kevin Sadovski will attend Merrimack beginning next season, Sadovski is a Florida native who is a recruited walk-on for the Warriors. He captained the Comets this season, scoring 10 goals and adding 30 points in 49 games on the blue line.
Prior to the Comets Sadovski also played for the Northern Cyclones and Islanders HC in the NCDC. He also spent time with the Boston Jr. Bruins at tiers in the USPHL.
In Neutral Zone’s 1999’s National Rankings report, Sadovski was ranked No. 223 (out of 750 ’99-born players not yet in college hockey).
“Kevin is a right-shot defender with a good stick in the defensive zone,” said Neutral Zone scouts after this past season’s NCDC Showcase. “He is active in transition, can/will jump up after quick outlet. At times, gets himself in trouble trying to do too much and will have to pick his spots better at the next level. He looked poised on the offensive blue line. He walked well along the OZB on the first power play. His quick release hits the net and he shot to tips. His skating is strong as he showed a long stride and quick backward skating on the line rush. That allowed for good gap control.”
’00 D Josh Luedtke commits to St. Cloud for 2020
Luedtke is a former Denver commit who had 20 assists in 45 games for the Des Moines Buccaneers this past season. Luedtke was a rookie in the USHL this season after playing at Minnetonka High in Minnesota.
NZ Scouts on Luedtke: “Small in stature but very large in hockey sense. His brain is beyond most players on the ice. His feet and hands moved at rapid pace while handling the puck. He found seems and threaded passes in the offensive zone. His skill and sense allows him to run the power play very efficiently. He defended with his stick and feet while keeping players in front of him.”
’02 F Nicholas Ostbloom commits to Alaska Fairbanks for 2021
Ostbloom had 13 points in 35 games for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the NAHL this season. He’s a native of Fairbanks, and will likely spend next season with the Ice Dogs as well before matriculating to Alaska Fairbanks for college hockey.
NZ Scouts on Ostbloom: “Ostbloom isn’t the most graceful skater but he’s strong on the puck and along the boards, he has a quick, powerful release and can get off checks in traffic and get his stick on pucks in scoring areas. He has a rare power and skill element to his game and he can protect the puck down low and shield it on net drives.”
’01 F Matt Vermaeten commits to Canisius for 2021
After a strong season with the Rockland Nationals in the CCHL (51 points in 52 games), he also played for Canada East in the World Jr. A Challenge.
NZ Scouts on Vermaeten: “Vermaeten is a young prospect with already a year of junior under his belt and it showed. He finished the week with a 2-1-3 line in 3 games and was arguably their best forward. He’s speedy and light on his feet and harnessed that well and used it to his advantage to separate from defenders and make plays in space. He showed his burst following up a breakaway attempt from his linemate where he flew past two backcheckers and jammed home the rebound.”
’99 F Cameron Lindsay commits to Framingham State in 2020
Lindsay had a strong season for the Philadelphia Little Flyers in the EHL this season, posting 27 points in 46 games. The Michigan native also played for Victory Honda.
NZ Scouts on Lindsay: “A strong power forward. He has a nice base and is a strong skater with good offensive tools. Lindsay uses his size very well. Very strong on puck with a good shot.”
