Launched in 2016 Neutral Zone is a first-of-its-kind hockey scouting site that identifies ranks, and profiles NHL, CHL, NCAA (Div. 1 & Div. 2/3), Canadian University Sports (USports), junior, midget, high school, prep, and bantam hockey prospects from across North America. The innovative site leverages top-quality, unbiased scouts to profile players and track their progress over the course of their amateur careers. The company has grown to over 100 scouts in every primary hockey market in North America covering both men’s and women’s hockey. NZ made its intial step into the European markets this past season and will continue to expand and develop our coverage there as well.

The ideal candidate will have experience playing, coaching or scouting, preferably at a higher level. You must have an eye for talent, a descriptive writing style and be able to intelligently evaluate a players attributes, strengths and weaknesses and how they compare to other players.

Job Description: This is a multi-faceted position including several roles within the company but the key responsibilities will be: Edit Scouting Reports, Post Articles & Scouting Reports, Add/Edit/Update Player Profiles, Organize Scouts Travel, Email/Marketing Campaigns and run Social Meida accounts.
Ideal Candidate: Ideal candidate would be a quality writer, preferably with hockey experience, high level of organization and attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment. Self-motivated with some experience in social media and graphics or at the very least willingness to learn.

Regional Scouts
Job Description: A regional scout is responsible for a league or a geographic region where they live. Scouts will attend tournaments and individual games, identify and evaluate prospects and assist the scouting directors with rankings and star ratings. Flexible schedule.
Ideal Candidate: Ideal candidate would have playing, coaching or scouting experience, preferably at higher levels of the game. The scout needs to be hard-working, descriptive writing style in their player evaluations, detail-oriented and willing to spend long hours in rinks. Our best scouts are humble, curious and relentless in their pursuit to breakdown a player’s individual skill set and how that ranks among their peers.

Video Scouts
Job Description: A video scout is typically a scout who lives outside of a major hockey market who can assist our regional scouts and scouting directors with video coverage of tournaments, showcases and major events. We also have a team of video scouts who monitor junior hockey leagues throughout US/CAN and do a game of the week write up and scouting report. Flexible schedule.

Communications/Content Creator (Remote Part-Time)
Job Description: This position is about expanding Neutral Zone’s footprint in the content space from articles and features on players, programs and coaches as well as creating content strategies for social media, generating press releases and monthly newsletters and uncovering special interest stories in the game. It would also include graphics and visual content for social media platforms and marketing initiatives.
Ideal Candidate: Ideal candidate would have experience in a related field (ie. communications, journalism, editor, social media) and have trusted contacts and sources in the hockey community. Must be reliable, self-motivated, hard-working, creative and honest.
