#7 Arlington Shuts Down #11 Winchester 6-1

Woburn, MA – On Wednesday night, the #7 Arlington Spy Ponders traveled to the O’Brien Rink in Woburn for a key Middlesex Matchup against a shorthanded #11 Winchester Red and Black squad.

The Spy Ponders jumped out to a 1-0 lead just a few minutes into the first on a goal by Nolan Russell from JP Messuri and Cam Petrillo. With 7:24 remaining, Arlington struck again when Petrillo came out of the penalty box and cut back to snap a heavy, low shot home as he created a shot on a 1v2. That’s how the first ended.

In the second period, big Drew Beck jammed home a puck to give the Spy Ponders a 3-0 lead. The Red and Black pushed back with a power play goal by Max Vozzela. he quickly snapped a puck into the top of the cage with a slick assist from Chris McCarthy. It was 3-1 with just under seven minutes left. Arlington responded quickly on a Dylan DiNucci tally from Sean Patterson with 6:04 on the clock. Thirty-one seconds later, Drew Beck redirected a heavy shot by Kurt Beck onto the stick of Rudy Hahn, who redirected the puck again for the score. It was 5-1 after two periods and Arlington was in control.

The third period did not see much of Arlington’s first couple of lines as they have the Ed Burns Tourney Championship Game on Sunday. They did add another when Rubin Williams batted a puck out of the air for a rebound goal. Will Mahoney assisted. It was 6-1, and that is how it ended. Arlington goalie John Snider was solid in net, getting the win.
