Arlington Catholic Edges Concord-Carlisle 4-3 on New Year’s Eve

Arlington, MA – The Arlington Catholic Cougars and the Concord Carlisle Patriots clashed on New Year’s Eve at Ed Burns Arena. The Cougars got on the board first at the 10:55 mark when freshman Cael Colarullo lit the lamp on a nice shot from the slot on a feed from sophomore Brayden Boczenowski and sophomore Jack Raposa.  The Cougars would hold a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period. After 1: the shots were AC 9, CC 3.

In the second period, AC took control of the game with a natural hat trick from Tyler Heldenbergh tallying goals at the 14:06 mark with assists from Alex Frost and Steven Constantine. Then at the 4:48 mark on the power play with an assist to Colarullo and finally short-handed at the 3:17 mark with an assist to Constantine. With the score now 4-0, Concord would get on the board on a nice goal-mouth drive with under a minute left in the period by senior Theo Price assisted by senior Tyler Kamionek. The score was 4-1 at the end of the second. The shots in the second were AC 13 for a two period total of 22 and CC 5 for a two period total of 8. 

In the third period, both teams came out physical with some big hits delivered by AC’s Shane Higgins. Concord Carlisle used their timeout at the 10 minute mark and from there went on the offensive. With 7:20 left in the third, junior Chris Bono outskated both AC defenders up the middle for a breakaway that he finished.   Then at the 5:23 mark after a turnover in the zone, junior Jake Erston took a pass from freshman Renzo Ma and lifted a shot into the top corner to get CC within 1. This is how the game would end: 4-3 Arlington Catholic. Shots in the third period: AC 9 for a total of 31 and CC 5 for a total of 13.
