Alexander Perevalov | Yarosslavl | KHL | R | LW | 6’0″ | 192 | Mezhdurechensk, RUS | 2004 | 2021-2022: A |
U20: Russia vs Belarus, May 7, 2022: In the 3-1 loss to Belarus Perevalov earned 17:48 in TOI, including 6:55 while on the power play. The right shot scored on the power play as he capitalized on a bouncing puck in the high slot for quick stick one-timer. Offensively he processed the game very quickly and when there was a Belarusian turnover Perevalov was taking off looking to score goals. On one such play he showed real speed through the middle after a turnover that occurred below his defensive goal line. After seeing the loose puck he took off for a breakaway which led to him being dragged down for Team Russia penalty shot. Perevalov’s passes were hard, flat and easy to handle. His skating showed real explosiveness as well as the ability to change direction in an instant without slowing down. High end National League prospect.
U20: Team Russia vs U20 Team Russia, May 5, 2022: In the 4-2 loss to the older more experienced Russian players, Perevalov earned 15:23 in TOI. He did not participate in the special team’s game. Interestingly, although he did not have power play time, he did lead the game with 6 grade “A” scoring opportunities. In 5on5 situations while cycling he showed quickness and strength as he routinely accepted or initiated contact to break the defender’s stride before accelerating into the open ice. Defensively we liked how he stopped on pucks and used his offensive instincts to get his stick on passing attempts or start transition. Perevalov thinks offense and when there was an opportunity he was taking off with the intent to score goals and get the puck to the crease. We loved his routes to loose pucks as showed an understanding to take his opponent’s ice and then he used his speed to create space for himself. He played every shift like he his team was down a goal and he expected to score.
U18 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup: Team Russia vs Team Sweden, August 6, 2021: In the 7-5 win over Team Sweden Perevalov earned 14:43 TOI, including 1:21 while on the power play. He finished an even strength goal after he sprinted from the hashmarks to the goal line to poke a puck home and 2 assists. On the first assist he showed beautiful touch on a backhand sauce up the gut to send Michkov in on a breakaway. The second assist came on the power play as the right shot Perevalov was positioned along the left dot lane. After receiving a bouncing puck he ripped a snap shot that generated a rebound goal. He may have finished the game with an outlandish 9 grade “A” scoring opportunities, but what we liked about them was that only 1 led to a face-off. Meaning that on each grade “A” he made the goaltender not only make a save, his shot lead to rebounds so the goalie had to make multiple saves.
