Neutral Zone NHL’s Brennan Poderzay, February 17, 2022:: Oke and the Spirit suffered a 4-3 loss against Erie in his last game, making 30 of 34 saves. While making a fair amount of solid saves, Oke allowed a few goals he would want back that helped contribute to the loss. His agility in the crease stands out as he is very crisp with his movements and does a good job of beating passes. He is a big presence in net and is at his best when he stays square to the puck and keeps his chest presented in his butterfly, as his frame allows him to make a lot of saves with his body. Traffic in front of the net was an issue for Oke, as he showed a tendency to retreat too far back in his net on point shots and ended up being the case for his second goal against. He also sometimes gets caught becoming locked in a very wide stance when players attack close to the net, instead of staying compact to allow himself to be more mobile and on angle. Oke definitely shows great potential and that he has the tools to be an elite goalie. His season has not been great statistically so far, but look for him to finish the year off strong as he has the capability. Grade: A-
USA Hockey Selects 17’s, July 14, 2021: Andrew is tall and played a composed game in the net here. His numbers are far from telling the whole story. He stopped breakaways, gave up three goals in a half but made several incredible saves. He had a push off, glove save on a one timer that may have been the best save of the event. He has size, athleticism and solid positioning. He has a very high ceiling and showed what he could do here. He made our NZ All-Star game and made an impression on both our scouts. Grade: B+
2004s: MAHA Bantam Festival, April 2020: Andrew is a big goalie around 6’1 who moves pretty good for his size. He competes on the play and he does a great job of controlling his rebounds. He was tested often as he made numerous saves using quick side to side movement. He let 3 goals in one game but he was solid in the other games he played.
U15: HPHL Playoffs, February 14, 2020: Andrew was solid in goal all weekend as he kept his team in the games, especially early in the championship game as his team was not playing well defensively. He has good size and will come out and challenge the shooter. He is quick side to side as he pushes hard with his edges. He has quick reflexes and battles through traffic to locate the puck.
AAA Minor Midget: Toronto Marlies Classic, February 2, 2020: Oke makes strong, powerful pushes in his crease. We saw him play in a tight 1-1 tie against Vaughan. Andrew did not face a lot of shots early in the game but made several solid saves on odd-man rushes as the game opened up. Oke tracks the puck well and is very active in his stance in order to battle for a sight line. On his feet, Andrew makes short, subtle pushes in order to square up to pucks. Throughout the weekend, Andrew made big saves at critical points for his team on-route to a tournament victory. Grade: A-
2004s: MAHA Festival, June 30, 2019: Andrew is a big goalie who looks confident in the net with no extra movement as he puts himself in good position. He made 2 break away saves using his quick glove and making numerous saves. For a big goalie he is quick on his feet and glove as well.
