David Sedlacek (RW, L, 6’2″, 172, HC Energie Karlovy Vary U20, 01/06/2008) David Sedlacek is a 6’2′, 172-pound left-shot winger who has a pro-projectable frame but currently lacks the strength and impact to fully leverage it into a North American professional career, and his 2025/26 production (44 GP, 11G, 17A, 28PTS) alongside his underlying metrics show a complementary player rather than a top European NHL prospect. He logs meaningful minutes (18:10 TOI) in all situations, including both power play (3:08) and penalty kill (2:02), which speaks to trust and versatility, and he shows a reliable, structured game with solid puck movement and purposeful play. His puck battle win rate (50%) is acceptable and he is willing to engage in battles, but it does not translate into consistent puck possession or physical control, especially considering his size. Offensively, his impact is limited as he generates just 2.6 shot attempts and 1.5 shots on goal per game with 1.56 Grade ‘A’ chances and a 10% conversion rate. For me his is currently lacking assertiveness and is still developing his finishing ability for a winger with his frame. He tends to play on the perimeter, does not consistently attack inside ice, and does not impose himself physically (0.39 hits per game), despite having the body to do so at the junior level. His puck management is also a concern as he can default to low-percentage hope plays or lose possession when leaned on. While he is positionally sound and shows some detail defensively, there is no standout tool in his game. His skating is developing, but not dynamic as he is still developing explosiveness and lateral mobility. I feel his offensive instincts are more reactive than creative, and his overall pace does not consistently push play. At this stage I feel Sedlacek projects as a player who has not yet translated his physical tools into consistent impact, and unless he adds significant strength, becomes more assertive offensively, and improves his pace and decision-making under pressure. I feel he is unlikely to become a North American professional and at this point I would not recommend using a draft pick higher than the late seventh-round on him. With that said, he could develop into a late rounder who plays NHL games when his body fully matures.
