Neutral Zone NHL’s Ian Moran’s comments, November 2020: Devon is going to stay on my mind because of his ability to score goals. As an 03 he put up 22 goals in 49 games in the NOJHL, which is tough to do. He skates well with a powerful stride, has quick feet and he has a high compete level. He’s a long shot to get drafted in 2021, but don’t be surprised if his name pops up in development camps or free agent talk when he’s older.
NOJHL: French River vs Espanola, November 2020: Devon is a strong skater who will carry the puck down ice and cut back on the entry and look for the late guy or find the open player going to the net. He set made a nice play on the power play as that lead to goal by moving his feet and quick hands to make the play. He works hard on cycle as he is constantly moving his feet to get open will make plays with puck. Grade B
2018 Minor Midget International Silver Stick, December 2018: Another big body on the Wolves front end, Savignac uses his reach to create turnovers in the neutral and offensive zones. He is tough to maintain down low as he keeps his feet moving and is good using the cycle and finding open ice.
Wendy Dufton Memorial Tournament, November 2018: Devon a big strong fast power forward. His puck pursuit is excellent and he is sneaky fast for a big player. Devon is light on his feet – great stride and has good stop to start steps. He was strong offensively all tournament – always flying around looking for open ice and loose pucks. Devon’s footspeed and low center of gravity presented a number of challenges for opposing D-men.
Toronto Titans Minor Midget Tournament, September 2018: Devon is a skilled winger with speed and size who likes to take on opponents one on one. Devon’s footspeed presented a number of challenges for opposing D-men. Among the fastest straight ahead wingers in the tournament he used his change of pace well to keep defenders off balance. He showed smooth hands and ability to get to the net with speed and was not afraid to go to the dirty areas around the net. Savignac was also not afraid to engage physically on the puck pursuit and forecheck. We liked his combination of speed and physical play all weekend.
