He showed excellent awareness with his head on the swivel and strong hockey IQ combined with calmness on the puck. All of this with his board play and ability to protect the puck and move the play through quick and accurate passes made him one of the best players on the ice. Although he was involved in the first goal against, where he misjudged the opponent’s speed and skill and didn’t close the gap quickly enough, his overall contribution to the team was undeniable. He showed great movement, skating, and speed, which caused a lot of problems for the opponents – as seen on his goal in the second period, when he actively participated in the face-off, took the puck, and went coast-to-coast through all opponents before finishing nicely with a deke. That was not the only moment where his soft hands were visible, he also used them effectively during zone entries, combining agility and quick changes of direction to gain puck possession time for his team in the offensive zone. Joel faced the game and opponents, which allowed him to see the ice well and deliver quick, accurate passes. He moved the puck quickly, often using the full width of the ice and skating toward the middle to gain positional advantage. He showed confidence and good decision-making on the defensive blue line, with the ability to take the puck from opponents and quickly transition to offense. His skill set was also visible on the power play, where he operated from the right circle and looked to shoot from that position. However, he also proved useful on the penalty kill, where he managed to kill time with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone. In the final minute, he effectively froze the game in the defensive corner for several seconds, taking away valuable time from the opponent’s comeback attempt.

He stood out particularly in the third period, constantly annoying the opponent and showing he is the kind of player who is tough to play against. On the penalty kill, after a won faceoff, he demonstrated calmness with the puck and made a smart breakout to clear the zone, allowing his team to transition into offense.
