Game Evaluation: Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 2020 NHL Draft Prospects (1/3/20)

Game Evaluation Blainville-Boisbriand Armada vs Quebec Remparts (1/3/2020) NHL 2020 Draft Prospects

Miguel Tourigny (4.25 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C) Defense

Effortless skater who gets up and down the ice with extreme ease. He’s smooth, turns on a dime and skates the puck out of pressure with tremendous ease. He’s low to the ice which allows him to generate power with each stride. Although undersized, Tourigny does not shy away from retrieving pucks down low in the defensive zone to quickly transition to offense. He does not engage physically, which puts him at a disadvantage against bigger, tougher opponents. However, he uses smart angling techniques along with an active stick and his slick skating ability to strip pucks from opponents. He anchors the second power play where he’s more than capable than distributing or in this game, crank a couple of hard low-shots on net. Overall an extremely solid game for Tourigny who projects as a solid offensive puck distributing defenseman in the QMJHL. Due to his small frame, it’s unsure if his game can translate effectively to the next level. Game Grade B+ (Projected round 4-6)

Maxim Bykov (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — Free Agent) Forward

Strong body with some good play along the wall. He displayed good hockey sense by making quick passes out of the zone or controlling the puck deep in the offensive zone. He stirred the pot quite a bit in this one establishing some net front presence making the life difficult for the opposing net minder. Bykov has put up solid numbers this year but unfortunately did not generate much offense in this one. There were certain shifts in this game where Bykov would make a nice move or a quick dash which will catch your attention- but would then remain quiet for long periods of time. His skating is below average to begin with therefore Bykov will consistently have to get involved by using his body. The tools are there for Bykov, it’s up to him to grind and earn his playing time. Game Grade: B-

Zachary Roy (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — Free Agent) Forward

Demonstrates good tough with the puck with a solid awareness of his surroundings. Although ice time was limited Roy showed some offensive flair, ripping a couple of quick shots on net. He’s a goal scorer; he puts pucks on net as much as possible as he possesses a heavy shot. His decision making was solid as well, getting pucks in deep and managing the game the right way. His skating needs to be worked on as he lacks that breakaway speed which inhibits him to create separation. For the future he will need to work on his explosive power and his edgework to help put him over the edge and too much stationary play.
