Felix Ohrqvist | Linkoping J20 | J20 Nationell | L | D | 5’8″ | 161 | Stockholm, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: C |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: Ohrqvist is a fantastic skater. He uses smooth pivots to open up lanes and escape pressure. He loves to rush the puck the full length of the ice and makes very aggressive activations, deep into the offensive zone. One of his best rush plays came in the first period where he went coast to coast, flying up ice and using a combination of quick hands and quick crossovers to weave through opponents and set up play in the offensive zone. He lacks an explosive first step and needs space to reach top speeds which resulted in many of his rush attempts being shut down before he could exit the defensive zone. He had a lot of trouble creating separation from opponents and gets shaky under pressure and throws pucks away when nervous. He quarterbacked the first powerplay unit and did a decent job of moving the puck around effectively. Felix also showed off a heavy wrist shot which he let go from the point on multiple occasions. Defensively he is not the most reliable player. He needs to make more active scans of his zone to become aware of cutting opponents. He focused all of his attention on the puck and there were multiple times where he had to scramble because an opponent had snuck past him. He is very confident when rushing the puck but will need to improve his explosiveness, learn to relax under pressure, and move the puck quicker instead of overhandling it which resulted in many turnovers.
Liam Danielsson | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | RW | 5’10” | 161 | Gavle, SWE | 2006 | 2022-2023: C+ |
Game Grade: C
Comments: Danielsson is a skilled offensive playmaker who currently sits at 2nd in the Swedish J20 points race. He moves the puck well and is able to set up numerous chances in the offensive zone. On the powerplay he stays in motion to help open up lanes and fires quick, crisp passes to attempt to create chances. His stride is very inefficient and causes him to lose a ton of speed. He tends to over handle the puck a bit too much, especially in transition, and had multiple turnovers tonight that could have been avoided by making a pass earlier in his rush attempt. He showed solid effort on the forecheck and made sure to get himself involved. He lacks size and strength which was apparent when clashing with older/bigger opponents along the wall. Great production from Danielsson this season but his lack of size, skating ability, and patience will likely hold him back from an NHL career.
Dante Josefsson Westling | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | L | LW | 6’2″ | 187 | Danderyd, SWE | 2006 | Not yet rated |
Game Grade: C
Comments: Westling had a great performance in man down situations tonight. He scored a shorthanded goal in the second period and ended the game with an empty net goal. He showed great effort without the puck. He forechecked hard and was tough behind the net. His first goal came on a solid forechecking play. The puck was eventually turned over to his teammate and Westling cut into open space in the slot, received a pass, and fired a well-placed wrister past the goalie in a 1v0 situation. His empty net goal was a good effort play as well. He applied harassing pressure to the defenseman with possession, forced a turnover, and buried it to secure the victory. He lacks speed and skill but showed great effort away from the puck tonight.
Melvin Fernstrom | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | R | C | 6’1″ | 163 | Balasta, SWE | 2006 | 2023-2024: B |
Game Grade: B-
Comments: Fernstrom is a 6’1, 185 lb, draft eligible playmaker who has been tearing up the Swedish J20 league. He played a patient game and showed off great vision, finding teammates in motion with perfectly timed passes to set up dangerous opportunities. His pass accuracy was very impressive as well, hitting teammates in stride, through very small passing lanes. He moves with a smooth stride and shows off decent edge work but lacks a good top speed which makes it difficult to carry the puck for very long in transition. He has soft hands which he used well in combination with his footwork to slip past opponents into space and to open up passing lanes with well-timed fakes. He could be a bit more attentive in the defensive zone but showed decent effort on the forecheck. He plays on the powerplay but not on the penalty kill. He was able to assist the first goal of the game with a quick dish to a teammate who had cut to the slot and multiple other chances were created directly from his passes.
Hugo Orrsten | Orebro HK J20 | J20 Nationell | L | C | 6’2″ | 190 | Boras, SWE | 2006 | Not yet rated |
Game Grade: C
Comments: Orrsten is a big, strong grinder who uses his strength and energy well in the defensive zone. He stands 6’2, 190 lbs and plays physically. His best plays tonight came while shorthanded. He brought good energy and was able to force multiple turnovers with smothering pressure and strong checks along the wall. He lacks speed but digs deep to win races and ensure he is involved in play whenever he checks in. Not a very skilled or flashy player but definitely a valuable piece on a fourth line. Unlikely he will ever play professionally in North America but has the potential to be a good piece for a team in the SHL or HockeyAllsvenskan.
