Milo FortkordRogle BK J20J20 NationellLC5’9″165Ostersund, SWE2006Not yet rated

Game Grade: C+

Comments: Fortkord is a hard-working two-way forward that showed off high motor play on both ends of the ice. He battled hard to win possession for his team and showed off an aggressive forechecking style. He crashed the net hard on the rush and was able to move the puck around effectively in his own end. He did a good job of timing his cuts on the rush to become an optimal target and to take advantage of space given to him by opponents. He made himself a target on zone entries and helped continue the rush towards the goal for chances. He also showed off a solid wrist shot. Well-rounded game from Fortkord.

Love GathRogle BK J20J20 NationellLC6’1″181Helsingborg, SWE20062023-2024: C

Game Grade: C

Comments: Gath is a two-way forward with a high motor that showed off good energy and pressure without the puck. He forechecked hard and consistently battled to win the puck. He was given time on the penalty kill where he effectively shut down play. Solid two-way performance from Gath.

Max GustafssonRogle BK J20J20 NationellLRW5’11”172Lund, SWE20062023-2024: C

Game Grade: A

Comments: A-) Gustafsson had a big game tonight, scoring 2 goals and 1 assist. He played with a ton of energy and made every shift count. His forechecking pressure was very notable early in the game. He harassed opponents in the offensive zone and made it very difficult for them to set up breakout attempts. His first goal came on a great effort play on the rush. He crashed the net hard, beating his man to the slot and redirected a pass across the goal line. His assist was a direct result of fantastic forechecking pressure in the second period. He harassed an opposing defenseman as he tried to bring the puck up the wall. He continued to apply pressure until he eventually fumbled the puck while cutting towards the middle. Gustafsson separated his man from the puck using his body, then made a quick tap pass to his teammate in the slot for a quick shot and goal. His second goal came in the third period when he made a well-timed cut into space below the circle, received a pass, and ripped a hard wrist shot below the goalie’s blocker. Gustafsson’s timing and pace of play on the rush were also impressive. He timed his accelerations to make sure he made it to open space at opportune times and executed well timed passes on the rush to hit cutting teammates before the passing lane closed up. Gustafsson played a high energy game and used his motor to earn himself three points tonight.

Laban PerssonRogle BK J20J20 NationellRD5’11”176Goteborg, SWE20062023-2024: C

Game Grade: B-

Comments: Persson is a draft eligible, offensive leaning defenseman with quick feet. He activated deep into the offensive zone and joined the rush often during this game. He has quick, agile feet that allow him to maneuver around the ice with speed. He was able to execute quick passing decisions to keep play moving and was able to set up a few chances through his playmaking. He was also seen attempting to shoot for redirections and tips in front of the net and did so at opportune times. Persson was given time on both the power play and penalty kill. He chased the puck around a bit in his own end, but his quick feet allowed him to get back into position before opponents could take advantage. Good footwork and offensive play on display from Persson tonight.

Leo Sahlin WalleniusVaxjo HC J20J20 NationellLD6’0″176Skovde, SWE20062023-2024: A-

Game Grade: B

Comments: Sahlin Wallenius is a skilled and mobile offensive defenseman. He has quick feet and is a very smooth, agile skater which allows him to make quick cuts into space and avoid pressure when the puck is on his stick. For the majority of his touches, he was unphased by pressure and was able to work his way into space before executing a quick pass up ice. There were a few times however where he threw the puck away without looking when his space was cut off. He uses quick agile stops and starts to freeze opponents, then cut into space in the opposite direction. This was seen multiple times when breaking the puck out of the zone as well as while walking the offensive zone blue line. On one particular play he began skating along the blue line, drawing the defender towards the middle of the ice, then stopped hard and exploded in the other direction which opened up a wide enough lane to shoot through. He activates deep into the offensive zone on the rush and works his way into space to become a passing option. Leo also showed the ability to rush the puck coast to coast with enough speed and confidence to go the distance. He has skilled hands and times his lane changes well to make it deep into the offensive zone in transition. Defensively he can use some work but was positionally sound. He was given time on both the powerplay, and penalty kill in this game. Solid performance in a losing cause from Sahlin Wallenius.

Edvin ModinVaxjo HC J20J20 NationellLLW6’1″181Sundsvall, SWE20062023-2024: C+

Game Grade: B-

Comments: Modin is a skilled and speedy forward who was able to generate some good offense for his team. He is a smooth skating forward that uses his quick hands to work his way into space and generate some chances through his passing. He showed off good speed in transition and was able to carry possession into the offensive zone and set up consistently. His agile footwork was very helpful to escape pressure and open up space for himself. In one instance, he entered the zone with speed but had a defender on his hip. He stopped up and used a combination of quick hands and an explosive acceleration in the other direction to jump into space and hit a trailing teammate with a quick pass. Modin was not given much ice time until the third period but showed some good offensive traits when he was given the opportunity.

Anton LindeVaxjo HC J20J20 NationellLC6’0″183Rodovre, DEN2006Not yet rated

Game Grade: C

Comments: Linde was trusted with a lot of ice time for his team tonight but had some trouble generating anything of substance. He played a low energy game and his lack of speed really hurt him on multiple occasions. One example was during a penalty kill where he stole a fumbled puck and had an opportunity to spring himself on a breakaway. He attempted to charge up ice, but his poor stride and lack of speed made it very easy for the opponent to catch up and shut down play before he made it into the offensive zone. He was able to pull off some quick passes during the powerplay, but most were to the outside and did not take risks to set up chances. We would like to see Anton play with more urgency and take more risks with the puck.
