Jaromir Perez

Jaromir PerezBili Tygri Liberec U20InternationalLRW5’11”165Praha, CZE20052022-2023: B-

U20: Liberec vs Sparta Praha, January 7, 2023: Perez is a left shot forward who played primarily left wing. He has a slight frame, but showed good quickness and an explosive burst out of stops or power turns. On the power play he was a net front or expanded goal line option and he showed fearlessness when taking the goalie’s eyes away. Perez totaled 13:46 in ice time including 3:29 while on the power play and 0:50 while shorthanded. He earned a power play secondary where he cleanly handled a poor pass that jammed him on his backhand, but he kept his eyes up which forced the penalty killer to not pressure. In the first period Perez showed speed an elusiveness after gathering an indirect pass off the right wall. Again he gathered a below average pass with his eyes up which forced the defender to back off and allowed Perez to do a stutter stepping forehand-backhand-forehand fake that caused the defender’s toe caps to get turned. He then lowered his shoulder to drive the puck wide and eventually to the far post for a beautiful grade “A” scoring opportunity. While cycling in the offensive zone Perez earned a 2 minute minor for roughing. In our opinion it was a bad call, but we like how he was jamming and digging along the wall.

U18: 5 Nation Tournament, November 8-14, 2022: Jaromir is a 5’11/165 pound left shot winger playing the right side in our viewings. Jaromir is not a big offensive contributor but uses very good first 3 step quickness, overall speed to find a way to add value in all 3 zones. He has a decent skill set, and is very shifty with the puck making him dangerous and a threat low with the puck. His skating is good laterally and he can carry pucks away from trouble as he attacks through the neutral zone. He protects the puck pretty well down low, he knows how to get to the net for chances, now he needs to add consistency to his game in order to make the next step. Grade: B-

U18: Czechia vs Sweden, April 13, 2022: Perez is a slightly below average sized left shot forward who primarily played left wing. His straight ahead speed was evident from the first shift as he exploded through the center lane, handled a poor pass in his feet without breaking stride and went in for 1on1 where he faked hard to his left backhand side and fired a rocket through the defender’s legs. During 5on5 play there were times that he became a bit too loopy, but after watching him closely we feel he just became less detail oriented when he became fatigued. He finished the game -1 on a play that originated in the neutral zone transition where he went fishing for a puck rather than stepping into his opponent’s skating lane. Again this occurred at the end of a long shift and fatigue was an issue. In total he played 8:00 minutes of even strength hockey finishing with zeroes across the board, 2 giveaways, 0 takeaways but he won 67% of his puck battles.
