Leo Tuuva

Leo Tuuva (RW, R, 6’1″, 183, Lukko, 08/02/2006) Leo Tuuva is a 6’1′, 183-pound right-shot winger who has already proven he can produce against professional competition, and his combination of size, pace, and offensive intelligence gives him a legitimate NHL projection within a 2-4 year development window. In 34 Liiga games (4-10-14) along with strong international production (6 points in 7 WJC games), Tuuva has shown he can contribute in structured, pro environments, which is a key separator from typical junior scorers. His game is consistent as he plays with pace, supports the puck well, and makes quick high percentage decisions, reflected in his strong puck distribution (90% pass completion, 1.12 pre-shot passes/game) and consistent offensive involvement (1.32 scoring chances/game, 11% conversion). He is effective off the puck, finding space and arriving in scoring areas, and his skating allows him to keep up with pro pace. His compete level (47% puck battles) allows him to win pucks, and while he is engaged physically (0.86 hits/game), he does not consistently impose himself despite having NHL-size. He can force plays under pressure (4.2 giveaways vs. 2.7 takeaways), and he is not yet a driver of play but more of a complementary piece who thrives within structure. The lack of penalty kill usage also raises some questions about his defensive trust and overall two-way projection. That said, his ability to produce at the Liiga level, combined with his skating, hockey sense, and offensive consistency, gives him a clear NHL pathway. Overall, I believe Tuuva projects as a middle-six winger who can contribute offensively and play within a system, and I do see him becoming an NHL player within 2-4 years if he continues to add strength, improve puck management, and bring a more consistent physical and competitive presence shift-to-shift.
