Yegor GrafSKA 1946 St. PetersburgMHLRLW5’10”174Barnaul, RUS20062023-2024: B

Game Grade: C+

Comments: Graf just hasn’t done it for me so far this season. I liked his game last year but he has not improved and hasn’t been able to create much when I have watched him this season. His skating is probably the best part of his game. He is able to slip into tight spots using good edgework and can generate good straight line speed up ice. He is a bit too much of a background player for me. He does not have the puck on his stick often and when he does he seems to get rid of it quickly. At times I have seen him generate some good chances through his passing but he gives the puck away just as often. His forecheck effort was low tonight. I liked his PK work in the third but that was only 30 seconds of his game tonight and the energy was not there the rest of the time. I have seen him make some pretty plays in the past but that has not been the case in my recent viewings of Graf.

Matvei KorotkySKA 1946 St. PetersburgMHLRC5’11”170Krasnoyarsk, RUS20052023-2024: C+

Game Grade: B+

Comments: Solid performance from the speedy Korotky in today’s game. With the puck in transition, he flies up ice and beats defenders using his quick hands and well timed lane changes. He has the puck on his stick constantly and does a good job working it around the OZ. He is able to escape pressure well by skating through checks, making well timed tight turns, and beating defenders head on with slick dekes. He snaps the puck around quickly on the powerplay and is able to find great space to fill to become a passing target. He was able to pick up 2 assists in this game. The first was a secondary assist earned by winning the faceoff on a powerplay. The second was off a hard drive to the net where he accelerated to top speed and blew past the defender on his way to the goal. His shot was stopped but a teammate was close by and buried the rebound. Korotky’s game without the puck was not as impressive as normal. He didn’t bring the same motor on his forechecks that is usually pretty consistent. He was able to provide some good pressure but let a couple of plays go past him that he should have probably been able to shut down. Another good night for Korotky. He will likely be drafted in one of the later rounds this year.
