Alexander Siryatsky | Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk | MHL | L | D | 6’2″ | 159 | Omsk, RUS | 2006 | 2023-2024: B |
Game Grade: B+
Comments: (#74) This was a very impressive showing for Siratsky. He is a 6’2, mobile, two-way defenseman who plays a smart and calm game. He is incredibly poised and remains patient when the puck is on his stick no matter how much pressure is applied. He is an agile skater and uses his skilled edgework to spin away from forecheckers and slip into open space. He walks the line well, showing off impressive head, body, and hand fakes to freeze opponents and walk past them with the possession. His movements are not the smoothest, but he uses his brain and feet to beat incoming attacks. He quarterbacked the top power play unit for Lisy and was able to move the puck around effectively. Defensively, he is a calm and responsible player. He made constant scans of the defensive zone and was proactive in shutting down lanes to close options. He was not afraid to stand in shooting lanes and blocked multiple shots tonight. His play in defensive transition was impressive as well. He used his footwork to keep opponents from getting around him and made well timed poke checks to shut down the rush entirely. He was given time on the penalty kill as well and was an effective defender while shorthanded. Siratsky will need to smooth out his game and improve his pass accuracy but his high IQ, poised style of play sets him above many of the other MHL defensemen. Definitely a name to check backup on as a potential late round pick up in the 2024 draft.
Danil Serazetdinov | Metallurg Magnitogorsk | KHL | L | C | 6’1″ | 151 | Magnitogorsk, RUS | 2006 | 2023-2024: B- |
Game Grade: B-
Comments: Serazetdinov played an effective two-way game with a ton of energy tonight. It was clear that he wanted the puck on his stick and he was not afraid to battle in order to make that happen. He has a smooth and powerful stride that allows him to fly around the offensive zone. He made calm, smart choices when the puck was on his stick and was able to extend offensive zone time by completing quick passes before being closed off by opponents. He was given time on the penalty kill and applied harassing pressure. He even forced a turnover in the neutral zone by jumping a pass and rushed it the distance completing the sequence with a shot on goal. The was an impressive game from Serazetdinov who plays a high motor style of play and has enough skill to generate some offensive chances as well.
Matvei Onishchenko | Stalnye Lisy Magnitogorsk | MHL | L | LW | 5’11” | 154 | Chelyabinsk, RUS | 2005 | 2023-2024: C |
Game Grade: B-
Comments: Onishchenko was given reduced minutes tonight but was able to generate multiple chances when he was given the opportunity. He plays the game at a high pace and is able to explode past defenders when given the chance. He created multiple shots off the rush with his feet and had a ton of energy tonight. He has shown elite hands over the course of this season but has a tendency to over handle the puck at times and can get a bit too fancy when taking defenders 1v1. No points tonight but a good showing, making the most of what he was given.
Dmitri Zhernosenko | Avto Yekaterinburg | MHL | R | D | 5’11” | 165 | Novosibirsk, RUS | 2006 | Not yet rated |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: Zhernoshenko is an extremely mobile defenseman with quick feet and the ability to rush the puck up ice with confidence. He accelerates to top speed with a few quick steps and was able to successfully enter the zone at times. There were a few moments where he overhandled the puck and turned it over at the blue line but was able to gain possession with a dump or with control many times. He moves the puck quickly and was able to execute some well-timed stretch passes. He is a bit loose defensively and will need to tighten up to play at higher levels. He was not given much ice time but showed impressive speed and agility with the minutes he played.
Yuri Mortsinkevich | Avto Yekaterinburg | MHL | L | C | 6’0″ | 161 | Chelyabinsk, RUS | 2006 | 2023-2024: C |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: Mortsinkevich is a 2024 eligible forward who brings good size and energy. He was often first to loose pucks in the corner and able to turn them into offensive possession with a quick pass. He has a smooth skating style and was able to transport the puck up ice with speed and confidence. He used his body to protect the puck from incoming pressure and was able to play through contact. He needs to learn to use his size to play a more physical game. He finished hits at times but there were also many instances where he went soft into battles and let opponents walk over him. Yuri showed good effort on defense and was very active in attempting to win possession back for his team. He was given time on the power play but was unable to pick up any points tonight. He is very unlikely to be drafted but we liked the energy that he brought to tonight’s game.
Alexander Pimin | Avto Yekaterinburg | MHL | L | C | 5’8″ | 154 | Murmansk, RUS | 2007 | Not yet rated |
Game Grade: C+
Comments: This was 2007 born Pimin’s 5th game in the MHL and we were impressed with the confidence that he displayed. He is an undersized forward, standing only 5’8 and 154 lbs. This was noticeable as he was outmuscled around the boards and dropped to the ice with a couple of big checks. Despite his lack of size, he was able to play the game with energy and confidence. It was easy to tell that he wanted the puck on his stick and was very active in getting pucks to the net. He fired 3 shots on goal and showed off a skilled toe drag release to change the angle around defenders. He is going to need a lot of work but there was a good foundation displayed in tonight’s game that makes us think he can be a productive player for Avto next season.
