Michael Chambre | NTDP U18 | USHL | R | G | 6’3″ | 175 | Boston University | 2023 | Fort Myers, FL | 2005 | 2022-2023: C |
U15: USA Hockey Nationals, May 18, 2021: If the tournament had an MVP, Chambre would have a real case for the award as he led Florida Alliance to the Championship game making 117 saves on 128 shots for an impressive .914 save percentage. He’s got the size, the athleticism and the hockey sense to be a top tier goalie at the next level. He reads the play, he gets himself in the right positions, he’s got technical skill and fundamentals. He moves well with the puck, he stays in position and is always square to the shooter. He has a calmness about his game and makes difficult saves look easy; he’s not sprawling out and diving all over the place to make stops; he’s controlled, confident and poised. Chambre was particularly impressive on the kill where he fought through traffic to track pucks and showed quick reflexes and rebound control. Our only knock was that he had a tough start in the championship game and was pulled but he showed consistency and ability to handle a heavy load starting every game and facing over 125 shots over 5 games and 5 days prior to that start. His best performance was against a highly skilled Mid-Fairfield team where he stopped 30 shots and gave up just 1 goal and almost single handedly propelled them to the championship game. He let up 3 goals in 3 games against top 5 ranked programs in Compuware, Honeybaked and Mid Fairfield. One of the best ‘05 netminders in the country who earned himself a spot at NTDP Evaluation Camp. Grade: A
Triple Crown Showcase, August 21, 2020: Chambre is a tall, butterfly goalie with ideal athleticism for the position. He isn’t afraid to get out of his net and play the puck especially on dump ins. He makes the original stop and then has great recover ability to pop back up and make the next save. He has a confident glove and was able to swallow up pucks keeping Southeast in some games that they were heavily outshot in. Grade: B
STX 68 Combine: All 68 Players Evaluated, September 3, 2019: Chambre’s athleticism and quickness really stood out to us. His legs are especially reactive. He seems noticeably quicker than his peers in that regard. Excellent lateral ability and can really stretch that post-to-post coverage. Sucks up rebounds and doesn’t give up much net with his aggressiveness. Fun to watch compete.
