Nils Bartholdsson

Nils Bartholdsson (RW, R, 5’10”, 174, Rogle BK, 04/25/2008) Nils Bartholdsson is an undersized but highly productive right-shot winger (5’9′, 165 lbs) who has been a consistent offensive driver this season (23-19-42 in 32 J20 games, plus strong international production). His game is built around pace, skill, and competitiveness, though his NHL projection hinges on whether those traits can translate against size and strength at higher levels. His offensive impact is clear in production and underlying metrics-7.0 shot attempts and 3.0 grade ‘A’ chances per game, combined with a strong 14% scoring percentage, show a player who not only generates volume but finishes when in the slot, while his 0.81 pre-shot passes and 87% pass completion reinforce his ability to create for his linemates. He has elite speed, puck skill in tight spaces, and ability to attack the middle of the ice, as well as his willingness to play in high-traffic areas despite his size. He competes with second efforts (57% puck battle win rate), is active defensively (3.6 takeaways/game), and consistently plays with energy and pace, making him a shift driver rather than a passenger. However, the concerns are tied directly to projection. His lack of size and limited physical presence (0.32 hits/game) will be tested against NHLers, and while he has shown willingness to engage, sustaining that effectiveness against NHL-level strength is uncertain. He plays a high-risk game high-tempo, skill-driven style that can lead to turnovers under pressure, and he has yet to produce in limited SHL exposure (0 points in 5 games), reinforcing that an adjustment period against higher pace and structure is needed. Ultimately, Bartholdsson has legitimate NHL skill and offensive instincts, and if his skating, pace, and compete continue to translate while he adds strength and power, he projects as a middle-six NHL winger who can drive offense and contribute on the power play; however, if he cannot overcome the physical limitations, he risks becoming a high-end offensive player at the European pro level. I feel he is a mid-to-late second round draft target with higher upside but a narrower margin for error.
