OHL: Brampton at Brantford

Game played 11/16/2024.

General Game Notes: Brantford scored three times on the powerplay and Brampton took penalties in the game that appeared to be unnecessary. Final score Brantford 5 and Brampton 3.

Carson Rehkopf (C, L, 6’2″, 202, Brampton Steelheads, 01/07/2005)

Grade: B

Comments: Carson is an opportunist and mainly is effective if he and his line mates are in sync and for a couple of shifts tonight they were just that. The problem when they aren’t in sync is that they really don’t do a very good job of defending. Because this line is basically the top line and must produce in order to have a chance to win, they lost because they had lost one of their players(Martone) for a few minutes while he sat out a 10 minute misconduct. Carson just brushes it off and keeps producing points whenever he can help the team. Scored a goal tonight but must have his mates in order to be most effective.

Gabriel Chiarot (F, L, 5’11”, 192, Brampton Steelheads, 09/17/2006)

Grade: B

Comments: Gabriel just keeps plugging away and does what he is told to do, to the best of his ability. Grind out those tough minutes and makes the oppositions teams players earn their ice. Got a well deserved hard work assist tonight.

Jared Harding (D, L, 5’8″, 162, Brampton Steelheads, 12/05/2007)

Grade: B

Luke Misa is a skilled playmaker who excels when feeding off his teammates’ passes, creating plays and space for others to capitalize on. He skates with confidence, using his speed to control the puck and draw defenders to him before distributing it to open teammates. As a setup player first and foremost, Luke’s effectiveness lies in maintaining puck possession for his team, allowing them to dictate the tempo of the game. His skating ability is among the top tier in the league, providing separation from most opponents, but he must work on being more elusive to evade defenders who aim to eliminate him.

Luke Misa (C, R, 5’10”, 176, Brampton Steelheads, 02/28/2005)

Grade: B+

Comments: Luke is his teams silent leader and was his teams best player giving his mates a chance to even be in this game. One goal and one assist.

Manuel^Raposo Amado|

Grade: B

Comments: Manuel was limited to possibly nine or ten minutes and if he didn’t take a penalty for hitting one of the home teams players too hard he would not be sitting so much. Manuel should have been given an assist on the third goal for his team when he outraced and outmuscled a defender for the Bulldogs and left the puck for Witkowski to put one by Brantford’s keeper Leenders.

Porter Martone (RW, R, 6’3″, 208, Brampton Steelheads, 10/26/2006)

Grade: C+

Comments: Porter did not play like a leader but more like a spoiled child. His first shift was his best and the rest of the game was downhill. Hurts his chances when he acts out and more importantly his team mates are left holding the fort.

Ryerson Leenders (G, L, 6’1″, 165, Brampton Steelheads, 06/01/2006)

Grade: B+

Comments: Disregarding a couple of stickside goals scored early in the game Ryerson played well enough to hold the fort and scramble his way to a well deserved win. The old saying you have to be good to be lucky applies here and Ryerson was good and lucky at the same time.

Nick Lardis (RW, L, 5’10”, 167, Brantford Bulldogs, 07/08/2005)

Grade: A-

Comments: Nick scored a natural hat trick by scoring the last three goals in this game and continues to find the net to lead his team in goals scored with 17. Nick seemed to wake up in the first period when he was on the receiving side of a big hit. Nick then went into another dimension and was unstoppable mainly because he was alert.

Zakary Lavoie (RW, R, 5’11”, 178, Brantford Bulldogs, 03/13/2004)

Grade: B

Comments: Zakary seems to be motivated and was very effective when he kept his shifts shorter tonight. Happy to be playing along with Jake O’Brien and Cole Brown sometimes and is chatting it up with them and planning their next shift. When Zakary is motivated he is a much more in tune player and can help this second line to play very well.

Jake O’Brien (C, R, 6’2″, 168, Brantford Bulldogs, 06/16/2007)

Grade: B+

Comments: Jake is a machine that just keeps chugging along, doing his job, never complaining and when he gets on the PP he is so good at finding the open mates so they can get good shots on the net. Three assists tonight and almost had a couple of goals if not for the Brampton goalkeeper, Jack Ivancovic

Cole Brown (RW, L, 6’3″, 170, Brantford Bulldogs, 04/27/2005)

Grade: B+

Comments: Cole scored one, assisted on another and for the whole night kept the visiting team honest playing in a robust, physical style with or without the puck. Cole is moving well with not very many of the oppositions players willing to lock horns. Cole basically was allowed to hang around in front of the oppositions net all night which made the goaltenders job (Ivankovic) difficult. If Cole continues to keep hanging around the opponents teams net and has his stick on the ice, his line mates will find him like they did tonight and he will get a bucket of goals this season.

Patrick Thomas (C, L, 6’0″, 178, Brantford Bulldogs, 08/21/2004)

Grade: B+

Comments: Patrick scored a goal , helped with two assists and won his share of faceoffs to play the captains role to a tee. Going head to head against the top line for Brampton, Patrick was an effective pain in the side of Martone and drove him to take a couple of penalties when the game was close in the second period.
