General Game Notes: London scored three goals in the first period and never looked back. They received excellent goaltending and only gave up one goal en route to a 4-1 home victory. Here is a report of the top performers in this game:
Noah Erliden (G, L, 5’11”, 183, Erie Otters, 09/09/2005)

Comments: Noah played very aggressively with his feet above the top of the crease on most shots. He was able to cut down on shooting angles but his aggressiveness led to a lot of goals and chances at the posts where he was not able to recover on passes. He did not give up some depth with players on the backdoor and this led to some easy tap-in goals for London. Noah also was aggressive and confident in terms of his pick play, coming out to try to stop every rim and playing pucks around the walls. He needs to work on adjusting his depth in some rush and backdoor situations as well as covering his 5-hole with his stick. He often has stick and hands lagging a bit behind which leads to 5-hole opportunities for the opponent.
Michael D’Alessio (D, R, 6’1″, 161, Erie Otters, 12/03/2008)

Comments: Michael combines tough defense with confidence to rush and handle the puck. He has an active stick that he uses to poke away pucks while defending rushes and rarely lets pucks get through to the net. When he collects the puck he is patient and confident with it while skating up ice. If he has space he will rush all the way into the offensive zone and use his solid puck-handling to make moves around defenders. He had a couple of shots on net and chances that he created off of zone entries.
Tyler Cooper (F, R, 5’11”, 157, Erie Otters, 12/06/2009)

Comments: Tyler scored the only goal of the game for Erie with a hard pull-shot on a rush. He received a pass on a zone entry on his off-side, pulled the puck in towards his body around the defender and ripped a shot high over the goalie’s glove. He also had a good delay on a zone entry where he pulled up and then made a nice pass.
Michael Dec (RW, L, 5’9″, 164, Erie Otters, 01/29/2007, Cornell)

Comments: Michael was noticeable in this game for his crafty offensive zone passes where he was able to put pucks through seams to create chances. He threaded one pass through to the net front on a zone entry that created a grade-A scoring chance. He had a scoring chance of his own by going to the net hard on a zone entry and getting a whack at a rebound. In the offensive zone he was able to see open teammates and feed pucks through small seams to them. He was less noticeable defensively and ended the game as with -2 plus/minus.
Lucas Ambrosio (D, L, 6’4″, 196, Erie Otters, 01/06/2008)

Comments: Lucas was very strong defensively in this game, using his body and stick to block lanes and shut down plays. He used an active stick to poke pucks away both in zone and on rushes. He went hard into the corners and was able to use his good size to get pins. Lucas finished the game with a 0 plus/minus in a game that his team lost 4-1, not giving up much during his time on the ice.
Andrew Kuzma (C, L, 6’0″, 197, Erie Otters, 01/29/2005, Penn State)

Comments: Andrew has good speed and accelerates with the puck on his stick. He has a good work ethic and is noticeable because he keeps his feet moving. He had a few nice zone entry plays where he got into the middle of the ice and distributed the puck well. One of these zone entries earned him an assist as he cut into the middle and made a quick spin and bump wide to his teammate who shot and scored. When he runs out of space in the middle of the ice he bumps the puck wide and drives the net with his good speed. Andrew also had some good faceoff wins in the game and made some good short passes on the breakout to help advance his team up ice.
Sebastian Gatto (G, L, 6’3″, 170, London Knights, 01/24/2006)

Comments: Sebastian was outstanding in this game, showing his ability to get across the net and make tough saves look easy. He slides quickly, is very athletic, and has quick reflexes. He can outstretch his leg pads to cover the ice on backdoor plays and dekes. He is good positionally and fills the middle well, covering his 5-hole quickly with his stick and not giving shooters many open holes. His post-play is good and he stopped stuff plays easily getting his foot just inside the post in time. He did not have a lot of puck-play opportunities in this game. Sebastian was a huge factor in his team’s win, stopping 23 of 24 shots on net.
Henry Brzustewicz (D, R, 6’2″, 204, London Knights, 02/09/2007)
Game Rating
A-
Henry Brzustewicz is a two-way defenseman who excels at controlling the pace of play. He effectively angles off rushes, creating scoring opportunities and then leads them in the opposite direction to maintain possession. His defensive skills are sound, allowing him to execute his duties well in the defensive zone. In the offensive zone, Henry uses his speed to drive down the walls and create passing opportunities into the middle of the ice. While he showed flashes of brilliance on the ice, including a highlight-reel assist, there were also moments where he struggled to stay disciplined, ultimately leading to a 10-minute misconduct penalty for having his jersey tucked in.

Comments: Henry is a talented defenseman who impacts the play all over the ice. He defends aggressively, standing people up at the blue line, and using his size to play physical. He quickly transitions to offense when his team gets the puck and joins every rush, often leading the rush himself when he has the puck. He is very strong on his edges and handles the puck well which allows him to maneuver up ice and into the offensive zone. He makes good passes on zone entries and then keeps himself available as an option for a pass back or to help out with rebounds. On the offensive blue line he showed that he has a hard slapper and he does a good job shooting low to create tip and rebound chances. There are times on the breakout where he can make a more simple and quicker pass which would result in less turnovers as he can sometimes try to do too much.
Andoni Fimis (D, R, 6’2″, 192, London Knights, 07/11/2006, Vermont)

Comments: Andoni makes smart, accurate passes on the breakout leading to a lot of successful zone exits when he is on the ice. He has good patience with the puck and then when he finds a lane he zips hard passes to his teammates. His skating can use work as he is not particularly quick or mobile. He makes up for his lack of elite skating with his awareness and strong puck movement though. On the powerplay, Andoni plays on the flank down low and distributes the puck well from there. Defensively he uses a good stick, keeps a tight gap, and makes smart reads about when to step up which again helps to make up for his lack of quickness.
Evan VanGorp (LW, L, 5’10”, 166, London Knights, 05/18/2006, Maine)

Comments: Evan is a speedy winger who disrupts on the forecheck and makes plays offensively. He uses his speed on the forecheck and on the penalty-kill to pressure the defenders hard and cause turnovers. He made a lot of nice passes to his line-mates to create chances in-zone. Evan earned an assist in the game by winning a puck and putting it to the net front where a teammate was able to find it and bury it. He also made a very nice look from the corner to the weak-side D cutting into the zone one time leading to a quality chance. He can see the big open lanes but also make short crafty feeds to his teammates and created a lot of scoring chances in this game.
Maksim Sokolovskii (D, L, 6’8″, 192, London Knights, 07/12/2008)

Comments: Maksim is a large, hard-hitting defender. He steps up to stop rushes and he delivers big hits, always finishing his checks. He started the game off with a fight which he very quickly won. He can also make some plays with the puck too, using hip fakes to buy himself time and space. He makes simple plays to move the puck up ice.

Comments: Max made the most of his fourth line role in this game, starting off the scoring for his team. He retrieved a puck, passed it up high and quickly got to the front where he was available for a backdoor tap-in goal. He also had a few nice plays in the offensive zone where he hade good first touches on the puck, quickly retrieving and bumping it to open teammates to relieve pressure and ensure puck possession for his team. He made one turnover on a zone entry where he didn’t move his feet or the puck quick enough. He did not have many noticeable shifts.
Braidy Wassilyn (C, L, 5’11”, 194, London Knights, 05/28/2008, Boston University)
Game Rating
B-
Braidy Wassilyn is a versatile player with a strong skill set, demonstrated by his ability to score goals and create chances for himself and others. His redirect of a point shot from a faceoff play showed off his accuracy and vision, while his one-timer on a 2v1 rush highlighted his speed and agility. Braidy’s passing abilities are notable, particularly with his backhand, which allows him to threaten in all directions on rush situations. He handles the puck well and has confidence to make moves through defenders’ hands. The player also exhibits clever movement skills, such as pulling the puck through a defender’s stick and manipulating the defenseman before moving the puck. In the corners of the offensive zone, Braidy uses quick cutbacks to evade defenders and gain time and space.

Comments: Braidy did not make much of an impact in the game overall but he did score a nice one-timer goal from the slot. He showed that he can handle the puck well and that he can be shifty but he struggled to finish plays, showing nice moves and then having the puck die on his stick. He did not play to his potential in this game or make much of an impact outside of the goal he scored.

Comments: Kaeden had a very strong game, creating lots of chances for his team and recording a goal and an assist in the win. He scored his goal by being ready in front on the PK and hammering in a loose puck. He earned his assist on a zone entry by driving middle with the puck, taking a step to his left and hooking the puck behind the D’s feet to his player on the right for a wide open shot. His line had the majority of the chances in this game as they moved the puck well between each other on zone entries and in-zone sequences. Kaeden has quick feet and a strong work ethic which makes him successful on the penalty-kill too. He gets in shooting lanes and blocks shots and then quickly transitions to offense and uses his speed to create 2v1 situations on the kill. He also won a lot of faceoffs in this game.
