Comments: Owen is a big winger who will play the middle occasionally. His skating is decent but needs some improvement in terms of speed and mobility. He does have good north south skating and is most effective when net driving away from the puck. He has a nose for the net and is hungry to score. As such you will find Owen in the blue paint mixing it up and fighting for loose pucks. He has a quick accurate shot and is used in the bumper position on the powerplay. I would like to see Owen use his good size more and be a more physical forward in the corners.

Comments: This was my first viewing of Quinton and I came away very impressed. I really liked his skating, smooth and strong on his blades, command of his edges and great mobility to skate pucks out and shift away from checking pressure. He reads checking pressure very will when retrieving pucks and can be counted on to make the right decisions and move the puck to the right man. If pass options aren’t available Quinton shows the ability to skate the puck out of his end, but he isnt looking for coast to coast rushes, His head is up and he is looking to headman the puck to open forwards. When battling in his end he can play physical, displays a good defensive stick where he was constantly poking pucks away from attackers or cutting off passes. And he was very aware of maintaining good defensive positioning with good box out skills. Offensively I liked the fact that Quinton keeps his feet moving on the blueline, never standing still and ready to jump when needed. He is confident in his skating, and he will stand up and hold the offensive blue line keeping pucks in for teammates. His transition skating is excellent and he can pivot backwards to forwards while making quick passes back up to his forwards.

Comments: Matthew was really effective in this viewing. He is a high energy winger effective in a 200 foot game. He has speed, and can play with pace at all times. His edge work is terrific and really enhances his ability to win races to pucks low in the offensive zone, spin off and avoid checks while maintaining puck position, separating from opponents and finding open teammates with his passes. He has good defensive awareness as well, and was effective in his end at sliding down toward net when danger lurked to give an extra hand. He is an elite skater who will be looking to improve his offensive production this season.

Comments: My first viewing of Konnor and his size jumps out at you as a 6’6 LD. Konnor is best described as a defensive minded defenseman whose focus is to keep danger away from his net. Konnor moves quite well for a kid this size as most his age are clumsy at this height, but Konnor seems to be in command of his body and both his stride and his pivots are quite smooth. He has no problems pivoting to retrieve dumped pucks or to go with opposition driving wide. He shows physicality in this end in the corners and at his net and he uses his long stick really well for poke checks and to close pass lanes. He plays a simple effective game, passes with good zip, willing to block shots, and effectively uses boards to dump out and release pressure if a safe pass is not available. Personally I would like to see a bit more bite in Konnor’s game to compliment his size.

Comments: I have been watching Nick since his minor midget year in Oakville. He is a great skating highly skilled and creative offensive driver. Nick has a powerful skating stride and can play with very good pace. Great edge control allows him the ability to shift and create separation from defenders. He possesses both good vision for creative playmaking but is equally adept at getting off quick accurate shots for goal scoring. Nick had a bit of a quite evening on this viewing although his line was dominant. It is a testament to Nick’s game that in his second year in the league he plays on his teams top line and 1st powerplay unit..

Comments: Donovan is in his second year with the Petes and has established himself as a solid contributing blueliner. He has decent size, and his game is defined by sound positioning and playing within himself. He does a really good job in his end identifying his man, boxing out and protecting his net. His passes are quick and accurate and he seldom ever over handles the puck. He is composed under pressure and makes smart plays when under pursuit by fore checkers. His gap control is good when facing an attack and he makes very good reads as to when to get aggressive or when to play safe.
