OHL – Kingston Frontenacs’ NHL Draft Prospects (12/5/19)

Zayde Wisdom (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C+) Forward

It is certainly no coincidence that the reversal in Kingston’s fortunes parallel the development of Zayde’s game. He leads this team in scoring and is playing a first line wing role in only his second year in the league. At the time of this report he leads his team in goals (15) and points (25). In Kingston’s 9 game hot streak Zayde has been impressive showing up in the scorer’s box with 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points in 9 games. Further to that he has been named the game’s first star twice, second star once and third star once. He plays wing alongside Canadian 15 year old phenom Shane Wright and appears to be a great fit for this young super star as he is able to play at the pace Shane brings to the game. In my first report on Zayde I suggested that he may be a 25 goal scorer in this league as a draft eligible player. Based on his current pace he may score north of 35. In this particular game Zayde not only patrolled the wing on the top line, but was used first unit power play as a net front presence player, and was used on the penalty killing squad as well. He was held off the score sheet in this viewing but was certainly more than noticeable. I really liked late in the game when his team had battled back to tie 4-4. Zayde made one particular thrust against Oshawa’s veteran defense pairing where he attempted to split them for a scoring chance. He almost pulled it off. But in spite of the fact that he was stopped his attempt showed me he is growing confidence in his game and is trending upward in his showing of his potential. Yet to show up on Central Scouting Player Watch List, but certainly in my mind deserves to be listed there as a C+ prospect. Game Grade: B+

Jake Murray (4.5 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C) Defense

Similar to last report Jake displays great skating ability, very good transition quickness moving from defense to offense, and is coming along fine contributing to the second power play unit. On his power play time he shows a good one time shot ability. He was a bit quite in this game, but was certainly a positive factor. Game Grade: B

Nick Wong (4 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C) Forward

Nick was quite in my first viewing of Kingston, but in this game he stood out and showed more and will certainly be a prospect I make sure to have more looks at. His upside is his offensive ability. He is a very nice skater with speed and agility who can handle the puck at these speeds and make plays while in flight. He shows creativity and skill set, and although undersized, was certainly dangerous every time he is in the offensive zone. Game Grade: B
