OHL: Ottawa (3) at Brantford (4).
Lucas Moore (D, R, 5’10”, 195, Brantford Bulldogs, 06/07/2005)
Grade: B
Comments: Had a good game because he was getting his shots through to the net. Scored the tying goal late in the game and had five other shots that found their way through to the net. Lucas at times, when facing a bigger assertive team has trouble. His lack of size hurts his down low game containing his man. When playing against a team like the 67’s, who try to out skill you and aren’t noted for their size and assertive play, Lucas shines, especially when he shoots the puck.
Tomas Hamara (D, L, 6’0″, 194, Brantford Bulldogs, 03/09/2004)
Grade: B+
Comments: One of the best games I’ve seen this player play. Tomas and many of his teams defence mates were given more liberties to roam and join the attack offensively, as the 67’s were having a tough time trying to control the top forwards for the home team Bulldogs. Tomas is a powerful skater, has mobility and showed this off when he went end to end in the overtime period to score the winning goal.
Nick Lardis (LW, L, 6’0″, 180, Brantford Bulldogs, 07/08/2005)
Grade: B+
Comments: Had a good game and Nick continues to shoot and shoot. Nick was stymied by the Ottawa goalkeeper tonight but did get two helpers and continues to show that if he can get free at the professional level, he should continue to score offensive points.
Jake O’Brien (C, R, 6’2″, 175, Brantford Bulldogs, 06/16/2007)
Grade: B
Comments: Average game for him and hopefully Jake will take notes, that he is always going to have opposing teams players attempting to get him off of his game, by distracting him with nonsense. If Jake falls for these tactics, he gets what he deserves and plays down to their level. The ego will play tricks on Jake’s head and we will leave it at that.
Patrick Thomas (C, L, 6’0″, 178, Brantford Bulldogs, 08/21/2004)
Grade: B+
Comments: Had a good game and scored an impressive goal to start the game when Patrick took his time to let go of a high hard wrist shot over the 67’s keepers short side glove. Not often will Patrick get the extra time to shoot this type of a shot when he gets checked more closely. I would like to see Patrick get his shooting routine down to a quicker release time as he has a very good shot and could become a prolific goal scorer when he spends more time on his shooting routine.
Jaeden Nelson (G, L, 6’0″, 205, Ottawa 67s, 04/11/2007)
Grade: B
Comments: Jaden had a good game stopping 38 of 42 shots and was one of his teams, if not his teams best player in this road game. If the team should get into the playoffs it will probably boil down to a single point and once the playoffs start anything goes. Jaden just appears to be a hot or cold goaltender right now and is worthy of consideration for being selected in the upcoming NHL draft. It appears that Jaden sometimes gets back in his net and we have to realise that he is in his first full season as a starting keeper in one, if not the best Jr hockey league on the planet. If Jaden has a short memory, stays strong, square to the eventual shooter, he will be successful and move forward towards the professional ranks.
Kohyn Eshkawkogan (D, R, 5’9″, 165, Ottawa 67s, 11/19/2008)
Grade: B+
Comments: Kohyn was again his teams best defender and other than playing way too many minutes for such a young defender, that is playing his rookie year against some of the best players in this league, had a good game. We critics sometimes forget that. Kohyn is just a young boy/man and is doing a damn good job. I completely forget sometimes that Kohyn, who appears to be so good overall with his game and plays like a seasoned veteran, playing against the best players that the opposition teams have to offer, has just turned 16 years old and is most likely going to play in the top league (NHL)on this planet. Sit back and enjoy the show. This guy is for real.
Matthew Mayich (D, L, 6’2″, 200, Ottawa 67s, 12/21/2004)
Grade: B
Comments: One of the best games I’ve seen this player play. Matthew assisted on two goals for his team showing off his quick and hard shot from the point. Matthew appears to be ready to take the next step towards the pro’s and could stand to become a little more diligent with his off-ice work, especially in the strength and conditioning departments. With this Matthew will gain more momentum and confidence, which will go a long way towards his professional aspirations.
Cooper Foster (C, L, 5’11”, 187, Ottawa 67s, 06/04/2005)
Grade: B
Comments: Cooper showed off his understanding of the flow of the game along with his good hand eye co-ordination when he moved in towards the net at the correct time, in order to deflect a shot from the point (Mayich)and scored his teams second goal. If Cooper is going to play at the next level he is going to have to somewhat harden his play when he drifts in and out of the scoring areas and more importantly when he gets between his check and his keeper on the defensive side of play. Cooper needs to work on being harder to knock off the puck and harder to knock around. Definitely skilled enough to get to the next level.
Game played on 1/5/2025.
