Neutral Zone NHL’s Ian Moran’s comments, February 2021: From an NHL scouting director’s point of view there is a lot to like about Moberg’s game. He is big and going to get stronger. He plays in straight lines, finishes checks and is very effective on the wing or a center. I really like his willingness to play like he doesn’t want any friends. He goes to the net and will push the defenseman into the other team’s goalie. He knows a good slash to the thigh post whistle won’t earn him a penalty, but it will draw a punch or slash in retaliation. I know there are other kids who are prettier and can do all sorts of tricks, but Moberg is a leader and a hockey player. We have him rated as a “B-” strictly because we feel he won’t be playing in North America for a few years. We probably won’t see him until he’s 22 years old, but he plays and looks like an NHL power forward in the making to me.

Neutral Zone’s Ed Besinger, May 2021: Big left-winger stands 6’2’’ and 190 pounds. The Swede played this past season for AIK in the J20 Nationell in Sweden. He also played for Sweden at the U18s where he scored four points (two goals) in seven games. Skilled forward is used in all situations. Listed as a winger but played center as well. Plays on the power play and penalty kill. Solid skater and uses his long stride well. Moves well laterally and can make defenders miss in space. He is more of a facilitator and the puck doesn’t spend much time on his stick. He identifies passing options quickly and snaps tape-to-tape passes. He has some touch and can layer pucks through traffic to teammates in space. He is responsible in his own end and works hard on the defensive side of the puck. Opportunistic player and will quickly turn defense into offense. Slick and active stick lets him strip pucks and create turnovers. Smart player that does a lot of little things right and helps his team win games.

U18 World Championships: Sweden vs USA, May 2021: Although we have seen him play left wing back in Sweden Moberg played primarily center for Team Sweden today. He played a no nonsense game that was abrasive and direct. He finished checks, played hard through contact and was involved in a few post whistle scrums or slashing duels. Including “accidentally” falling onto Team USA’s goalie after he scored. During offensive transition or while cycling he is thinking about his next pass, pick or option well before he touches the puck. He is a very willing net front presence on the power play and uses his big body to control the crease.

SHL: AIK vs Vastervik, January 2021: The 2003 Moberg only played a handful of shifts, but he was noticeable during all of them. He was very strong along the walls and while battling in front of Vastervik’s net. At one point during a scrum Moberg lowered his shoulder, got on his inside edges and drove the pile of players into the neutral zone. He played in straight lines stopping to face the puck in defensive transition and finished checks. Offensively he moved the puck quickly and was a noticeable net front presence.

J20 SuperElit: AIK U20 vs Brynas U20, October 2020: Moberg is a 6’2″ 2003 power forward playing left wing for AIK’s U20s. He has a wide strong base that he used to over power defenders on the way to the net. Moberg is a player who we feel can be used in all special team’s situations, but tonight he was most effective as a goal line or net front presence on the power play.
