QMJHL: Saint John Sea Dogs at Charlottetown Islanders, October 2020: Throughout the game, Plandowski showed really good mobility and handled the puck very well in all three zones. He was very effective using the long stretch pass to create offensive opportunities for his teammates. In the first period alone, he connected cleanly with teammates on the other side of centre from far inside the Islanders’ defensive zone three separate times, resulting in easy zone entrances and odd-man rushes for Charlottetown. He also showed good awareness of when to pinch in and join the rush, and when to fall back. Grade: A
World Selects Invite 2003 Division, June 2019: Oscar, who can play forward as well, plays with nastiness to his game. His size and skating ability make it very tough to take the puck from him. Several times throughout the tournament, players came to hit him and he would stand them up while he had the puck (Forsberg-esque). He uses the middle of the ice on breakouts and has shown his athleticism through the tournament. Smooth skater along with a smooth set of hands and craftiness makes it hard to read him and where he’s going with the puck. He has an above average hockey IQ and understanding of the game. College: Quinnipiac
USA Hockey Nationals U15, April 2019: Oscar is the leader on the back-end for Central CT. He is an athletic defender that moves around the ice well. Has good balance and edges. Escapes pressure quickly and gets up-and-out of his zone efficiently. He is confident with the puck and wants it on his stick. He snaps passes to forwards or will lug the puck into the neutral zone. He is at his best defensively through the neutral zone. Plays physical and keeps tight gaps. Forces forwards to the perimeter of the rink and uses a strong, active stick to disrupt zone entries. Tough to play against in his own zone and plays a rugged game around the net. At times overhandled the puck trying to make the perfect play. Grade: B+ College: Quinnipiac
Canada Winter Games, March 2019: Puck moving defender with smooth skating ability. Poise with the puck and never seemed to panic finding the right outlet pass, clearing the puck or even protecting the puck and skating it out of his own zone. Played in all situations, made crisp tape to tape passes, jumped into play when he needed to and was rarely out of postion. Used an aggressive stick to defend and shutdown offense, deflecting centering passing while playing a physical game in the corners. College: Quinnipiac Grade: B-
USHL: Fall Classic U15, October 2018: He has good sized and showed mobility in every direction. Liked his stick and ability to quickly transition from DZone to breakout and turnovers to clean zone entries. He is really smart ad sees the whole ice. Put his forwards in spots to succeed and played hard. His passing is crisp and accurate. Athletic defender with skills that should translate at the next level and perhaps beyond. Good two-way skill and sense. College: Quinnipiac Rank: A
World Selects Invite, June 2018: Plandowski is a good-sized, athletic, smooth skating defenseman who breaks the puck out cleanly and efficiently. He has a hard slap shot from the blue line but where he stood out here was his ability to carry the puck end to end at will with his poised stickhandling and hockey sense. He had 4 assists in 6 games and showed his long, balanced stride when carrying the puck through the neutral zone and rushing back on the backcheck to save a goal. Defensively, he uses his footwork, size and athleticism to his advantage but does tend to run around and get out of position. High upside prospect who is well on his way. College: Quinnipiac
Rocky Mountain Classic Bantam, November 2017: Oscar has great skating edge control and uses them effectively to evade forecheckers. He makes very good breakout passes. In his zone he has great compete, boxes opponents out well and battles in all situations. Offensively he loves to sneak in at appropriate times to help out on offense. Defending the attack, he has a good tight gap and challenges opposing forwards. Grade: A-
