BCHL Playoffs: Wenatchee Wild vs Salmon Arm Silverbacks, April 20, 2022: Huge presence on the ice. Brings a physical element to his game that makes it miserable for opponents. In turn, has skill in the offensive zone making him an extremely effective power forward. Despite not having the fastest feet, he challenges defenders by using his strength and leaning on the defenders’ taking pucks to the net. Owns an absolute cannon for a shot and all he must do is flick his wrist. His power and strength are translated into all aspects of his game. Scored the 2nd Wild goal by lurking in the weeds, receiving a drop pass and flicking a wrister top shelf beating the goaltender clean. B
BCHL: Wenatchee Wild vs Vernon Vipers, February 18, 2022: Massive bodied forward who doesn’t have the quickest first steps but can get up and down the ice efficiently. Plays his role well finishing his checks and being hard to play against in front of the net. Can possess the puck along the walls as he uses his body and strength to ward off defenders. Can cut to the middle of the ice and push defenders back because of his size. When he catches pucks in stride he will take it to the net hard driving on his edges. Has soft hands as he can sauce small area passes through defender’s triangles showing the he can has some skill to go along with his big size. B+
BCHL: Wenatchee Wild vs Chilliwack Chiefs, February 16, 2022: Massive power forward. Big, bodied forward who may lack a quick first step, but can move well for his size. Understands his game and doesn’t overcomplicate it. Finishes his checks and is hard to move off the puck. Can control it along the walls as he uses his body and strength to shield off defenders. Can cut to the middle of the ice and push defenders back because of his size. This allows him to catch pucks on the move and take them to the net hard. Owns a soft pair of hands as he can sift short passes through defender’s triangles and can make some high-end plays for a big man. B+
OJHL: OJHL Showcase, December 1, 2021: Murray is one of OJHL’s largest forwards players at 6’4 and 225lbs. Murray has the potential to put up good numbers this season. He has decent speed in open space and great length to his game. He created a number of turnovers with his reach and was also difficult for smaller defenders to handle when he got position around the net. He gets around the ice well for a big forward but needs to bring it every shift. With his size and speed combination he has the ability to dominate offensively. At times he was very effective in this game but had shifts where the intensity level fell off and Murray spent too much time puck chasing. This late birthday 2003 player is someone we will check in with as the season progresses. His size and skill combo are an attractive all-round package if he continues to develop consistent effort in his 200 foot game. Grade: B
U14 Nationals, April 18, 2018: Parker was one of the biggest players here. He is both tall and strong. His skating is decent and he was able to stay around the puck. Stride is solid and he is very strong on his skates. Still has some adjusting to his body but his form will allow for improved feet. His net front was excellent as he was willing to go to tough areas and take the goalies’ eyes away. His effort was very good as he dove for pucks and worked back to his end. The part of his game we liked the most was his stick and hand-eye coordination. He was able to pick pucks from the air, softly receive passes and be strong with possession. He can shoot it and gather pucks along the wall. Scored a goal in the crease where he first batted a puck down, then quickly gathered it and buried. Very good on the PP. Lots of upside.
