Theo Rochette (4.5 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — B) Forward
The smaller center-iceman has good speed and a mind for getting to scoring areas offensively. His stride is a little different, and he sort of bobs up and down sometimes when he skates, but it doesn’t affect his quickness. He spent time on the penalty kill–giving good pressure on the PK, and actually getting his best scoring chance a man down. He had a good stick on the fore-check, and worked hard to get back defensively. He stayed with his guy down low as the center, though he did get out-muscled on occasion, including winning only 3 of his 9 draws. He had two quality chances, and finished with 4 shots on net. There are things to like about this young player. Game Grade: B-
Louis Crevier (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — C) Defense
Louis Crevier is a tall, tall man. Checking in at 6’7 and around 212 lbs., the 2001-born’s best attribute is his size. With that, however, comes a great reach, which he used to break up opposing rushes and passes–particularly while down a man. The right-shot D-man also takes up a lot of space on the kill, blocking shots and clearing pucks. What is impressive about Crevier for his size is his footwork, which didn’t slow him down too much, and his aggression, which is not inherently there in bigger guys. He stapled opposing forwards to the wall, and battled with guys in front of the net, winning battles and pucks. His puck skills are not top-notch, but he is able to get pucks out of his zone when he needs to. He will get a chance to play pro hockey, the level of pro is yet to be determined. He could benefit from some more strength to balance him out, and continued skating work. Game Grade: B-
Justin Ducharme (3.75 Star Amateur Rating, NHL FREE AGENT Grade — C) Forward
The veteran forward had a productive outing, finishing with 2 goals and 2 assists. One of his goals and both assists came shorthanded–where he stood out with his work ethic, proving to be a threat to score down a man. Ducharme skates pretty well, but really works hard in all zones–tracking back defensively, even late in shifts. Both goals came on great plays from his linemates, but The 2000-born forward made no mistake putting them away. He displayed great leadership toward the end of the match, calming a linemate down with only a couple of minutes remaining, and proceeding to score on the following shift with an insurance marker to put the game away. Ducharme spent time on the power play as well, winning puck battles and planting himself in front of the net. An impressive outing. Game Grade: A-
Samuel Houde (4 Star Amateur Rating, 2018 Round 5 #133 by Montreal Canadiens, NHL Grade — C+) Forward
The 2018 5th round pick of the Canadiens has great quickness, showcasing his speed skating for exits and closing down on pucks quickly on the forecheck. He also wheeled up the ice for power play breakouts, and occupied the bumper position once in zone. He was strong on draws, winning 10 of 18. Houde showed great play making ability–finding teammates with passes across the slot with regularity, including his assist on the game-tying goal in the third which he fed after forcing a turnover. He scored the game-winner a few moments later, going to the net and burying a rebound. The Saguenéens scoring leader had 3 or 4 quality chances, and his skating stuck out. Game Grade: B+
Hendrix Lapierre (4.5 Star Amateur Rating, NHL Grade — B-) Forward
Comments from a previous viewing of Hendrix “Hendrix did what he’s be doing all season–putting up points. The center is looking like the best playmaker in the draft and could hear his name called first overall this summer. He would benefit from shooting the puck more as he tends to pass off shooting chances, but his hands and hockey sense are impressive. Lapierre reads the play well, has an elusive stick and excellent vision. He can find passing lanes and open ice that very few players can see at this age and he has the stick skills and awareness to get his teammates the puck in scoring areas.” DNP, NHL-CSS A-Rated Skater did not play, is out with injury.
