Cameron WhynotValley WildcatsNSMMHLLD6’2″181Halifax Mooseheads | 2020Kentville, NS20032020-2021: B+

Whynott displayed his usual skating and puck handling skills. He made a number of zone-clearing first-passes and helped push the play offensively for the Mooseheads. It wasn’t all positive though. During a first period power play, Whynott shied away from contact at the offensive blue line, allowing Bathurst’s Mathieu Desgagnés to chip the puck past him and go the other way on a breakaway. Desgagnés scored on the play. Rating: B

Zachary L’HeureuxChateauguay Grenadiers U20QJAAAHLLF6’0″194Halifax Mooseheads | 2019Mercier, QC2020-2021: A

Robert OrrLac St-Louis Tigres EspoirMidgetLF6’0″170Halifax Mooseheads | 2020Beaconsfield, QCNot yet rated

With the absence of the suspended Zachary L’Heureux, Orr had an increased role in this game. He responded well, playing an aggressive game, especially in the offensive zone. He finished with one goal and helped create a number of scoring opportunities. Throughout the game, he showed good skating and strength by driving hard to the net, both by beating defenseman wide and muscling his way past defenders. He drew a couple of penalties, forcing Bathurst defensemen into holding and hooking calls. Orr also flashed some puck skills by one-timing a pass into the Bathurst net to tie the game with just 21 seconds left in the third period. Orr’s a gamer whose effort level is never in question. Rating: B+

Cole HuckinsStanstead CollegeMPHLLF6’3″181Acadie-Bathurst TitanFredericton, NB20032020-2021: B

Huskins looked especially engaged in the defensive zone in this one. He anticipated the play very well, getting into shooting and passing lanes to break up Halifax scoring opportunities. His hockey sense was on display, as he was continually in the right place, at the right time in all three zones. After watching him a couple of times now, it’s clear that he’s an elite puck handler. He’s also faster than he first appears, thanks to a long, strong stride. Rating: B+

Riley KidneyCole Harbour WolfpackNSMMHLLF5’11”168Acadie-Bathhurst TitanHalifax, NS20032020-2021: B-

The more you watch Kidney, the more you like his game. In this one, he again played at a high-tempo, and made a number of nice plays with the puck. His speed was on display during 5-on-5 play, as well as on the penalty kill, where he was very effective. Kidney created scoring opportunities with his speed and puck handling, and looked like he was playing keep-away with Halifax defenders during a pair of shifts in the second period. His late second- period goal was a highlight-reel marker. Kidney carried the puck in the Mooseheads’ zone, was tripped, but maintained possession of the puck before getting up and stickhandling around two Halifax defenders. He then wired a wrist shot in to the top right hand corner. Rating: A

Zach BiggarKensington WildNBPEIMMHLLD6’0″179Acadie-Bathhurst Titan | 2019Kensnington, PE20032020-2021: C+

Biggar played a safe, unremarkable game. He was steady in the defensive zone. Rating: C+

Marc-Andre GaudetContendo Northern MooseMidgetLD6’2″168Acadie-Bathhurst TitanSt. Ignace, NB20032020-2021: C

Gaudet continues to show improvement as he settles into his rookie year of major junior. He skated well in this game, and used his long reach to keep opposing forwards to the outside and away from the slot. He cleared the puck out of trouble without any problems throughout the game. Rating: B

David DoucetNotre Dame HoundsSJHLLF5’11”181Acadie-Bathhurst TitanBaie-Ste-Anne, NB2020-2021: C+

Doucet was buzz saw in this one. He caused Halifax defenders problems all night in their defensive zone with his speed. He scored a nice goal in the third period, picking up a bouncing puck at the faceoff dot, driving to the net, cutting quickly to his right and lifting a back hand shot over Mooseheads’ goalie Alex Gravel.
