QMJHL: Halifax Mooseheads at Acadie-Bathurst Titan

This was the first game of the season between these teams. Both teams played on Friday, October 9, and had Saturday off before facing off in an afternoon game in this one. Each side looked lethargic in the first 20 minutes, but the pace of play picked up significantly in the second and third periods. Final score was 6-3 for Bathurst.

Zachary L’HeureuxChateauguay Grenadiers U20QJAAAHLLF6’0″194Halifax Mooseheads | 2019Mercier, QC2020-2021: A

L’Heureux has been showing just how strong he is in recent games. In the second period of this one, he carried the puck behind the Bathurst net, fighting off a Titan defenseman. Despite being bearhugged to the ice by the defender, L’Heureux maintained possession of the puck and set up a scoring opportunity in the slot from his knees. He used a nice combination of speed, smarts and strength to create opportunities in the offensive zone throughout the game. Rating: B+

Robert OrrLac St-Louis Tigres EspoirMidgetLF6’0″170Halifax Mooseheads | 2020Beaconsfield, QCNot yet rated

Orr played a solid two-way game. On numerous occasions, he pushed the play offensively by gaining entry into the offensive zone with strong skating, smart passing, and good decision making. He continually made the right decision when the puck was on his stick. Rating: B

James made his first QMJHL start. Early in the game, he had good positioning and patience, getting square to the puck and not overreacting to pressure in front of the net. But he had a tough second period, giving up four goals on 12 shots. Rating: C
