QMJHL: Rouyn-Noranda at Moncton

November 24, 2023

Benjamin Brunelle (LW, L, 6’4″, 192, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, 06/07/2005)

2023-24 NHL Grade: C

Game Grade: C+

Comments: Very good skater for his size, good agility and puck skills, quick hands downlow and in tight, solid two-way presence, very hard working away puck which is great to see, good instincts for the position and game, no doubt can play both positions, at the junior level, he’s a natural winger, his skating will still need to improve if he wants to play at the next level through the middle at the pro level, prototypical power forward, at his size, needs to ensure he continues to move his feet and work on his agility to improve that aspect even more, protects pucks very well and uses his body efficiently and effectively to ensure he creates time and space in the offensive zone, good passer of the puck and very long reach, tons of leverage when battling for pucks in all three zones, this kid has the potential to a monster, tough to play against, but yet skilled, speedy and smart enough to play up and down any roster at the pro level.

Daniil Bourosh (C, R, 6’1″, 188, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, 04/15/2004)

Game Grade: B-

2022-2023 NHL Grade: C

2021-2022 NHL Grade: C

Comments: Good skating winger, good edge control coupled with good speed, not the best looking stride, but from point to A to point B, he gets around the ice very well, good vision and processes the game very well, good passer, reads and reacts very well, plays the game and position the right way, active stick in all three zones, definitely has an extra gear, but needs to showcase that with greater consistency, very good release, shoots the puck with great velocity and accuracy, he’s good in traffic and confident, but he will need to get stronger and quicker even still to be a solid middle six winger at the next level, he’s solid on the half-boards in his own zone, had great numbers for stepping into the league as an import in 2021-2022 season, which speaks volumes about his hockey sense, ability to adapt and scoring touch, very interesting prospect here, there’s definitely something there if he continues to develop and refine aspects of his game, didn’t have his A game vs Wildcats, too perimeter and not engaged enough, needs to compete more away from the puck and be harder to play against on a more consistent basis, can definitely play pro hockey as a great foundation of skill, just needs to be more consistent.

Antonin Verreault (LW, L, 5’8″, 161, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, 07/28/2004)

Game Grade: B+

2022-2023 NHL Grade: Free Agent

2021-2022 NHL Grade: C+

Comments: All over the ice, engaged from puck drop, when his entire team looked down and out, he rallied them, tremendously skilled and incredibly fast, speed for days, has battled injuries, but this kid can really play, great release, obviously everyone will look at his stature, but this kid competes for every lose puck in every situation, coaches dream, can play in any situation and excel, very dangerous player, can take over a game with his skill set at the junior level, could definitely play up and down the line up at the pro level, processes the game extremely well and distributes pucks efficiently and effectively.
