General Game Notes: 2-0 very early in the game for Rouyn-Noranda, they completely dominated the first half by outshooting Shawinigan. Huskies were clutch on the Power Plays and won the details and the face-offs wars all game-long. A relatively easy win of 4-1 where two ’25 NHL draft eligible players stood out: Zonnon and Chandle. Bill Zonnon (RW, L, 6’2″, 182, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, 10/03/2006)
Grade: B+
Comments: Very strong game for this tall player, he was able to harvest 2 points (1G-1A) but he did way more than that. Bill has a stellar shot as observed right at the beginning of the game and at the end with the 4th goal of his team. He has the capacity to win his battles and recuperate loose puck relatively easily, he is tenacious and works well with his body. His vision is elite and he makes good decisions, one thing he could improve is his softness of his hands where they could be perceived stiff at time, when receptioning passes for example as we saw at the end of the first. His skating strides are somewhat unique, very wide but he is explosive and his speed his surprising. Zonnon is off to a great start of the year after 10 games, definitely an interesting prospect to follow.
Lars Steiner (RW, R, 5’9″, 176, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, 11/12/2007)
Grade: B+
Comments: A late ’07, so draft eligible only in ’26, Lars had a great showing, he can shot the puck and does that really often, at least 5 shots on goal today. Not really tall at less than 6′ but he is still young, and he can grow and he plays big at close to 180 lbs, not intimidated at all. He did deliver a solid shot at the end of the first on a bigger opponent. Lars is off to an amazing start with 11 points in his first 3 games and averaging more than 1.5 points a game after 10 games. He certainly did open some eyes.
William Vezina (C, R, 6’4″, 181, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, 06/06/2007)
Grade: C+
Comments: Defensive minded player but being a right-handed at 6’5′ and close to 200 lbs, he does stand out on the ice. His stick reach is obviously superior but the quality of his moves is there as well not only the length, he is smart with it. Very raw talent, must improve his stickhandling capacity as seen in the second where he lost a puck in his defensive zone, that created a turnover and a scoring chance. Not on the radar for the moment but his progression curve should be watched on the side in the mirror
Cole Chandler (C, L, 6’2″, 176, Shawnigan Cataractes, 05/01/2007)
Grade: B
Comments: After a first year at 16 yrs old filled with injuries last year with Shawinigan, that was probably his best game we witnessed from this tall left-shooter. Standing at more than 6’2 and over 180 lbs, this center man had a great wining % tonight, probably around 60% without having looked at the official game stats. Cole started with a strong shift on Power Play in the first where he was alert and tenacious. He displayed superior hockey sense by being well-posionned offensively, always open and finding a direct-line of connection with the puck carrier. In the second frame, he did deliver a nice long pass that resulted in a break-away, he possesses superior vision. A the end of the second, after delivering a nice back-hand pass, he executed two shots on nets, one being a strong one-timer, that could have been considered two high-grade scoring chances for the Cataractes. If he could add some physicality to his game, he would be an interesting prospect to follow for this year, and next year NHL draft.
