Neutral Zone NHL’s Ian Moran’s comments, February 2021: So this will sound crazy, but I don’t really care. Karlsson reminds me of a right shot PJ Axelsson. Really fast. Really quick. Looks light and can get bounced around, but always seems to end up on the right side of the puck or battle. He plays with the type of energy that will eat minutes as a bottom six, but has the speed and willingness to get to the net and dig for rebounds that will allow him to move up the depth chart when the team needs him. He obviously has a long way to go to be anywhere near Axelsson as a player but his compete, speed and total willingness to stop on every puck gives him a skater’s chance. Also, defensively It also looks like he understands how to judge his depth and width off of the dots, lines and where their players are so that gives him an advantage already.

Neutral Zone’s Ed Bedinger, June 2021: Swedish winger standing 6’0’’ and 159 pounds. Played this past season for Orebro HK 18 and 20 in the Swedish U18 and U20 Leagues. He scored eight points (three goals) in 13 games combined in both leagues. He is scheduled to play again for Orebro in the U20 next season. Best attribute is his straight line speed. He can pick-up speed and get to where he is going in a hurry. Plays in straight lines and has average edges and balance. Will need to improve agility and side-to-side mobility. He handles the puck fairly well but at times is too easily knocked off the puck by defenders. The right shot is patient and doesn’t overcommit to pucks. Stops on pucks and plays a complete game in the defensive zone. He works hard and has a high compete level. Will need to round out certain aspects of his game from a skill standpoint and also be more consistent shift-to-shift.
