Andrew Reyelts (G, L, 6’1″, 182, Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, 03/20/2006, Lindenwood)
Game Rating
B+
Andrew Reyelts, a 6’1″ goaltender, excels in his calm and composed approach to the game. He effectively tracks pucks and controls rebounds, making it difficult for opponents to capitalize on second chances. While he has some awkwardness in and around his posts, he compensates with quick angle adjustments and precise movements. Reyelts plays a mid-depth game that allows him to stay athletic and react well to plays. However, there are areas where he needs improvement, such as using a more active stick to elevate pucks and making sure not to overcommit to drop into pucks.

Comments: The backbone for the Roughriders appearing in 42 games this season the 2006 born goaltender plays a mid to lower depth to reduce larger movements and relies on centering his body to track pucks effectively. When pucks are in zone the Proctor Minnesota native plays a deeper depth but effectively gains on line rushes. This reduces larger movements allowing him to scan the zone and identify threats as well as giving him slightly longer to track pucks. This depth forces Reyelts to use all parts of his body to make saves which he does effectively. Setting his feet on threats is where he finds success. Effectively dropping into pucks aids in rebounds and centers his body eliminating reaching. His larger movements are lacking in power from an early weight transfer and lean most likely contributing to a lower depth. Comfortable in his posts he creates a nice seal of the ice and fills holes. Angles to pucks at times put his body off center but not hindering him in this contest. A contest that didn’t see much action stopping 13 of 15 attempts and unfortunately dropping the contest 2-1. Grade: B+
Stephen Peck (G, L, 6’2″, 180, Muskegon Lumberjacks, 01/18/2005, Michigan)
Game Rating
A
Stephen Peck, a 2005-born goaltender, plays a fundamentally sound game with a strong set of skills. He has an upright stance with a balanced upper body and feet under his shoulders, making him mobile and able to track pucks effectively. His movement is precise and powerful, allowing him to control rebounds and eliminate second chances. A high level of puck tracking ability, active hands, and good stick positioning also contribute to his success. While some areas for improvement exist, such as increasing frequent scans in line rush situations, Peck’s calm demeanor and consistency are key factors in his game. His ability to stay within his game and recognize plays helps him make solid saves and control the play in his zone. With continued refinement of his skills, Peck has a strong foundation for future success.

Comments: The 6’2′ New York product plays a well-rounded and calm game setting his feet and moving fluidly to center his body on threats. Playing at a mid-depth and gaining appropriately makes his frame useful. His movement is powerful and precise resetting his stance and ready for secondary movement. Setting his feet on threats and centering his body allows him to drop into pucks which aids in rebounds control and movement after his save selection. To do so his tracking is strong, reading off the blade and visually watching everything in and out. His rebound control from a square set position is consistent and places pucks into non-dangerous areas or swallows them to his upper body. The 2005 born product effectively uses a shoulder check and scans of the ice to identify threats outside of the puck carrier. The 2005 birth year is comfortable maintaining his feet or using a reverse and even an overlap showing comfortability in awkward angles. A well-rounded goaltender and a solid performance getting the 2-1 win over the Roughriders with 28 saves. Grade: A
