Comments: Joseph had a very strong game. He has good size and moves very well. He had outstanding balance as he moved around the net, this was especially noticeable in his post play. He moved into & out of the RVH & VH with ease while maintaining his speed. He consistently played at an aggressive depth during the game, playing on top of his crease to challenge shooters. His strong lateral movement allowed him to maintain that aggressive depth while tracking slot line puck movement. He also showed strong play reading and hockey IQ, accurately reading plays allowing him to arrive at shots early, on his feet set in his stance. This resulted in him having a 94% rebound control on the shots faced. Overall he stopped 1.1 goals above expected based on the volume and quality of shots faced. He also played the puck effective, initiate simple accurate breakout passes to his defensemen leading to effective zone exits. This was a very strong game from a very young (2008 birth year) goaltender.

Dane Callaway displayed a solid performance, showcasing his ability to move effectively around the crease and make smart decisions in the game. His hockey IQ and play reading allowed him to anticipate scoring threats and manage angles well. However, he occasionally struggled with balance issues, particularly when making long lateral pushes. In the first period, Dane experienced some difficulties with rebound control but improved significantly as the game progressed. By the end of the contest, he had achieved 75% positive rebound control.

Comments: Dane had difficulties early on but settled in as the game progressed. He struggled with his angles in the first period as he was off angle on all 3 goals allowed. His angles improved significantly as the game progressed. He demonstrated proper depth throughout the game, he frequently played on top of his crease to challenge shooters. He moved well, often maintained proper balance while moving around the crease. He showed great post integration moving into and out of the RVH position smoothly and efficiently. He did show good awareness and hockey IQ, reading plays while while routinely scanning the zone for offensive threats while the Roughriders cycled the puck. Dane had a -.2 goals stopped above expected based on the volume and quality of shots faced. While he under performed on saves above expected it is worth noting he did stop a number of high danger chances showing his capacity to elevate his game to make the ‘big save’.
