Louka Cloutier (G, L, 6’2″, 168, Chicago Steel, 08/22/2006, Northeastern)
Game Rating
B+
Louka Cloutier is a physically gifted goaltender with a calm demeanor in the crease. He makes use of his tall frame to limit longer-range movements, but sometimes struggles with rebound control, allowing second-chance opportunities. To improve, he needs to balance stability with agility and adjust his stance when playing long-range shots or line rushes. Cloutier tracks pucks well and takes good scans of the ice, often making big saves on odd man rushes and breakaways. His active hands and stick positioning allow him to control rebounds effectively, but can sometimes lead to a wider stance that hinders mobility. Despite this, he excels in his posts and makes comfortable adjustments at awkward angles. Overall, Cloutier’s game is marked by balance between power and agility, and with refinement, he has the potential for success.

Comments: Chicago: Louka Cloutier (2006) The Quebec native and Avalanche draft pick plays a composed game and makes use of his size to limit his larger movements. A lack of power in some of his movement gets him behind plays, stemming from off balanced weight and widening feet/knees. The Steel goaltender makes up for it with his tracking ability and constant scans of the ice. Setting his feet on pucks and being a great first save goaltender put himself in good positions to control rebounds and direct pucks away from traffic. An effective first save goaltender with a wide butterfly and clean seal of the ice. Comfortable in and around his posts but low hips making movement in and out a little more difficult. A solid performance stopping 22 of 25 but coming up short in the loss. Grade: B+
Aiden Wright (G, L, 6’0″, 182, Sioux Falls Stampede, 10/26/2005, Vermont)
Game Rating
A-
Aiden Wright’s playing style is characterized by his smooth movement and confident positioning in the crease. He maintains a balanced stance, which allows him to track pucks accurately and control rebounds effectively. His upright chest and centered feet enable precise movement and quick reactions to threats. While he has shown ability to drop into pucks and trap them, there are instances where he struggles to beat screens or bodies. With some adjustments to his positioning and movement patterns, Wright can maintain his mobility and make more frequent scans of the zone. His solid foundation of skills demonstrates potential for growth and development as a goaltender. By refining his power and agility, Wright can further enhance his overall performance.

Comments: Sioux Falls: Aiden Wright (2005) The Vermont commit has a solid base to his game stemming from an athletic stance, smooth movements, and well-rounded fundamentals. Setting his feet on pucks and making sure he stays mobile using a stance differential allows him to see above screens and scan the zone effectively. The North Carolina native saw action in back-to-back nights for the Stampede and showed some consistency in the crease. Playing a calm game and remaining within his means and crease is where he finds success. Comfortable in awkward angles and areas of the ice, making saves and moving especially from his posts. Another sound performance stopping all but two of thirty-six shots in the win. Grade: A-
