Gavin Moffatt is a skilled goaltender known for his smooth and powerful movement, which stems from solid fundamental skills. He excels at centering his body on pucks, improving second opportunity mobility, and controlling rebounds with his active stick and hands. Moffatt’s ability to recognize and read plays well allows him to stay in position and control depth effectively. His compact stance and use of angles enable him to cover a lot of real estate in the crease, making it difficult for opponents to find openings. While he may occasionally struggle with wide feet, his overall athleticism and quick reflexes make him a formidable opponent between the pipes.

Comments: The Gamblers goaltender has smooth, and fluid movement rounded out by a good aptitude and play reading ability. His smooth and powerful movement allows him to set his feet on pucks and center his body on plays. A wide butterfly creates a nice seal of the ice but at times widens his knees to the point of hindering his down movement/power. Athletically gaining and dropping depth when necessary is made easy by his play reading ability and frequent scans of the ice. Tracking pucks well into his body makes rebound control a strong suit but with his wider butterfly his feet tend to kick out rebounds. The Michigan native is a solid backbone for the Gamblers keeping them in games and seems to be very levelheaded focused on the task at hand, even after giving up an early goal. Stopping 27 of 29 surrendering two in the 3-2 overtime win over Muskegon. Grade: A-
Stephen Peck (G, L, 6’2″, 180, Muskegon Lumberjacks, 01/18/2005, Michigan)

Stephen Peck displays a solid foundation of skills on the ice, showcasing precise movement and ability to center his body effectively against threats. He maintains a calm composure in the crease and demonstrates strong hands for rebound control and smothering pucks. However, there are moments where he struggles with screens, particularly when his stance widens or he loses focus. Peck’s feet often widen as plays approach, causing him to reach for pucks, but he recovers well by using a stance differential to see through screens. His use of shoulder checks is also commendable, allowing him to stay in front of pucks and direct them to the corners. While he may not be perfect, Peck’s overall skillset suggests potential for improvement.

Comments: The Michigan Wolverines commit plays a calm game supported by a solid foundation of fundamentals and movement. At mid depth larger movements are limited and Peck can set his feet on pucks and move with power. A stance under his shoulders that is balanced creates the power and precision movement. An elite puck tracking ability allows him to smother rebounds and an active stick allows him to elevate pucks and eliminate second chances. Able to use an overlap and a reverse when pucks are at awkward angles or behind the net while not creating holes makes these areas comfortable. Frequent looks and scans of the zone aid his movement as well as identifying threats, although they could be more frequent in line rush situations. Staying within his game and consistency is where he finds success. Stopping 27 of 30 in this contest but coming up short in the overtime loss to green bay. Grade: A-
