Dane Callaway (G, L, 6’2″, 205, Fargo Force, 12/04/2005)
Game Rating
B
This young goaltender from Duluth, Minnesota, demonstrates a solid foundation in his athletic style of play, showcasing quick movements and ability to cut down angles. He effectively uses his stance differential to track pucks through screens and maintain focus on the ice. However, there are areas where he struggles with balance and control, particularly when making larger movements. His frequent zone scans and ability to regain his back leg aid in mobility, but sometimes widen his stance, hindering movement. Maintaining his feet in the posts keeps him agile on north-south play. While showing effectiveness as a first save goaltender, there are still some areas for improvement.

Comments: The 2005 born Force goaltender showcases a more athletic and active style of play cutting down angles. His movement is sound and capable, sound fundamentally although very active. When able to regain and set his feet creating a consistent game is where he finds success. Although at times this helps with seeing through traffic as he fights for sightlines above and around screens to track pucks. A tendency to overcommit using an overlap throws awkward angles off and flattens his chest. His rebound control is effective but just inconsistent as some chances are put back into dangerous areas. Maintaining his feet and an upright chest Callaway finds success and mobility. With all the options in awkward angles with an overlap, maintaining his feet, as well as a reverse he moves well but flattens too quickly. A solid and athletic goaltender with just a few details to clean up to calm his game and take him to the next level. Stopping 32 of 36 he and the Force surrender the two points at home. Grade: B
Stephen Peck (G, L, 6’2″, 180, Muskegon Lumberjacks, 01/18/2005, Michigan)
Game Rating
A-
Stephen Peck is known for playing a calm and well-rounded game that allows him to effectively control rebounds and movement in the crease. His ability to set his feet on threats and center his body enables him to make powerful and precise movements, resetting his stance to stay reactive. Strong tracking skills allow him to visually watch everything in and out of the zone, making it difficult for opponents to find scoring opportunities. He also exhibits comfortability in awkward angles, using an overlap and reverse when necessary. Peck’s ability to identify threats outside of the puck carrier and maintain a balanced stance creates power and precision movement. His frequent scans of the ice aid in his overall game, but there is room for improvement in line rush situations. Staying within his game and consistency are key areas where Peck finds success, and he has shown significant growth in these aspects.

Comments: The Michigan Wolverines commit showcases top level fundamentals with a calm game/demeanor. As the backstop for the Lumberjacks, he has become a well-rounded goaltender and improved as the year has progressed. His movement is fluid, powerful, and precise setting his feet on threats and centering his body. This enables good reads and an ability to have great body control to drop into pucks and stay compact without reaching. The New York native tracks well and gets good reads enabling sound rebound control and control over play in his own zone. A comfort with using different stances as well as different post integrations allows him to be comfortable and mobile in different situations. At 6’2′ he plays toward the top of his crease ad adds depth when necessary, taking scans of the zone to appropriately add or drop. A solid foundation and solid understanding of the game he puts himself in positions to find success. Stopping 24 of 25 in this contest helping the Jacks to a 4-1 win. Grade: A-
