USHL: Omaha (0) at Sioux City (3)

Game played on 1/3/2025.

Mikhail Yegorov (G, L, 6’5″, 182, Boston University, 03/07/2006, Boston University)

Grade: A-

Comments: Omaha: Mikhail Yegorov (2006) The second year Lancers goaltender plays a simple and effective game based on a sound skillset and effective use of his size. His movement stems from a condensed stance that sees minimal holes; this allows him to set his feet on threats. Solid tracking of pucks and frequent scans of the ice make for the Russians rebound control effective. Sealing holes as well as the ice when pucks are in tight ensures pucks will have to be elevated to beat him. When pucks are behind the net or in awkward angles Yegorov seems comfortable using a reverse and filling space, as well as moving in and out effectively. Making some big saves in this contest and giving Omaha a chance to win but coming up short stopping 24 of 26. Grade: A-

Bjorn Bronas (G, L, 6’2″, 190, Sioux City Musketeers, 02/25/2007, Minnesota State)

Grade: A-

Comments: Sioux City: Bjorn Bronas (2007) The 2007 birth year has a solid set of fundamentals that allow him to move fluidly and set his feet on pucks. His precise movement is aided by shoulder checks and scans of the zone, but his power is slightly lacking. More powerful movement to get ahead of plays can benefit him but will come with his progression as a goaltender. The recent Minnesota State Mankato commit keeps his feet underneath him with a backside regain and creates a good seal of the ice. An upright chest keeps his balance centered and a calm looking presence. More comfortable around his posts in a reverse but capable of using an overlap or maintaining his feet for mobility. The occasional lack of power in his movement finds him behind at times on second chance opportunities but his rebound control found him and the Musketeers avoiding those situations in this contest. A solid performance gaining the two points while stopping all 19 shots that came his way. Grade: A-
