USHL: Omaha at Tri-City

Game played on 11/01/2024.

Kam Hendrickson (G, R, 6’0″, 171, Omaha Lancers, 01/09/2006, Connecticut)

Grade: A

Comments: The right-handed catching UConn commit keeps a narrow stance and feet just outside his shoulders to maintain agility and mobility. His movement is smooth and powerful as he maintains a depth at the top of his crease. His backside leg regain is a hinderance to his movement but very infrequent. Dropping into pucks showing an elite skill for the pace of play, this is where the backside regains, and compact body movements are seen widening. Using a stance differential to see over or around screens allows him to maintain vision and track pucks. When setting his feet on pucks and centering his body controlling rebounds or keeping them in front to cover easily allows him to control play in his zone. Keeping a very calm and composed presence in this tight game helps Kam and the Lancers get the two points with a shutout.

Adam Dybal (G, L, 6’1″, 184, Tri City Storm, 09/02/2005)

Grade: B+

Comments: The 2005 born Czechian native stopped 23 of 24 shots in this contest coming up just short in the 1-0 loss. The Storm goaltender has some happy feet that tend to widen his stance and fails to set them on pucks most of the time. He can use an effective lateral release and forward release but setting his feet would allow for more success. Tracking pucks and scanning the ice frequently allows him to read plays and set himself up for success. At just 6’1′ he plays at mid depth in his crease and maintains this depth through most in zone plays, gaining some depth on line rushes. His squareness in awkward angles tends to see his body flatten out and create awkward body position. Comfortable once in his posts he makes a good use of a reverse and seems comfortable in and out. Coming up just short in this one but a decent performance for Dybal.
