Comments: Alan had a strong game relative to the workload he faced. Overall Des Moines carried the play to Sioux City, leaving Alin with periods of inactivity. Despite the limited workload he was sharp when he needed to be. He demonstrated strong movement throughout the game, quickly getting to his spots, arriving early and on his feet, set and ready for the shots faced. He also showed well balanced movement, especially while executing the RVH maneuver around the posts. He had consistently high awareness, play reading and strong hockey IQ. This combined with his movement resulted 82% positive rebound control. He stopped 1.65 goals above expected based on the quality and volume of shots faced. He also played the puck very well. He routinely stopped dump ins and made simple yet effective passes to his defensemen to initiate breakouts. He also read the Sioux City forecheck and showed poise with the puck, holding it briefly, waiting for a better passing lane to open up. The puck play led to several easy zone exits allowing Des Moines to attack with speed through the neutral zone.

Comments: Ryder had a strong game despite a heavy workload of shots and offensive pressure. He struggled with his depth early in the game but got better as the game went on. He showed strong balance while moving around his crease. This was on display with his post integration as he smoothly & efficiently transitioned into RVH during play. His RVH exits were as smooth & efficient as his RVH entries. He showed strong play reading and hockey IQ, routinely scanning his zone while Des Moines cycled the puck in the offensive zone. He stopped .65 goals above expected based on the shot volume and quality faced. It is worth noting his faced many high danger chances throughout the game making several difficult saves. He routinely utilized strong lateral movement to make saves on cross slot line scoring chances. He also had 80% positive rebound control, attributed to his strong skating and overall awareness.
