Adam Kleber | Lincoln Stars | USHL | R | D | 6’5″ | 203 | Minnesota Duluth | 2024 | Chaska, MN | 2006 | 2023-2024: B |
Game Grade: B
Kleber earned 20:31 in ice time (2nd among D) including 1:33 on the PP (2nd among D) and 1:34 on the PK(1st among D). He finished -1 with 0 points, 3 shots, 1 hit, received 1 hit, 5 giveaways, 9 takeaways and for the season he is winning 58% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: With smooth skating Kleber allows himself to get back on pucks first and create some type of breakout whether that is with his feet or a quick first pass. One thing he did well was walk the blue line and keep composure under pressure. He does not throw the puck away, even as last man back, rather he will hold on to it and skate the entire offensive zone if he has too. His poise with the puck was noticeable and a reason why he was able to create chances in the offensive zone.
Keaton Peters | Lincoln Stars | USHL | R | F | 5’10” | 187 | Northern Michigan | 2024 | Sussex, WI | 2004 | Free Agent |
Game Grade: A-
Peters earned 20:43 in ice time (2nd among fwds) including 2:24 on the PP (1st among fwds) and 1:53 on the PK (team high). He finished -1 with 1 assist, 2 shots, 1 grade “A” opportunity, 7/19 on face-offs, received 1 hit, 10 giveaways, 9 takeaways and for the season he is winning 46% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Peters showed tonight that he can be nasty physically, despite his smaller stature. He takes the extra stride to play the body and never passes up an opportunity to sneak in a shot behind the play. Not afraid to get in the mix at the net front. On retrievals he establishes inside positioning early and will drive through opponents hands separating them from the puck. He showed a solid use of contact to create space in small areas which allowed him to spin off of defensive pressure and attack the inside.
Kai Janviriya | Lincoln Stars | USHL | R | D | 5’8″ | 170 | Connecticut | 2024 | Bloomfield, MN | 2005 | Free Agent |
Game Grade: A-
Janviriya earned 20:58 in ice time (team high) including 2:25 on the PP (team high) and 1:30 on the PK (2nd among D). He finished -1 with 1 goal, 1 shot, had 3 shots blocked, 6 giveaways, 9 takeaways and for the season he is winning 53% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Constant motion allows Janviriya to break from his team’s structure in the offensive zone and seek opportunities that just aren’t there for other defensemen. He prods for soft ice, finds it, and times his entrance into that space at the best possible moment for a shooting opportunity or a chance to hit his teammate elsewhere with a perfectly weighted pass for a chance of their own.
Jared Mangan | Lincoln Stars | USHL | L | C | 5’10” | 172 | Clarkson | 2024 | Charleston, SC | 2003 | Free Agent |
Game Grade: A-
Mangan earned 20:43 in ice time (fwd high) including 2;20 on the PP (2nd among fwds) and 1:01 on the PK (4th among fwds). He finished -2 with 1 goal, 1 assist, 3 shots, 3 grade “A” opportunities, 10/19 on face-offs, 3 hits. 8 giveaways, 6 takeaways and for the season he is winning 48% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: A central theme to Mangan’s scoring game is attacking at angles and getting the defense and net minder to react to his movement. His ability to release it while skating without first coasting to give away the game is very deceptive and a reason why he can create quality shots.. His ability to pre-load, load, and put the mechanics together are what drives his power despite the very slight frame. Under pressure tonight, he found ways to get the scoring areas despite being out numbered.
Michael Chambre | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | R | G | 6’1″ | 175 | Boston University | 2024 | Fort Myers, FL | 2005 | 2022-2023: C |
Game Grade: A-
Comments: Chambre was able to show good mobility by getting cross crease and make saves that could have gone in. Gets out of his net and looks to play the puck and showed the ability to break pucks out to his wings and ice pucks if needed. He is able to relieve pressure by playing the puck and has the awareness of where forecheckers are before he gets the puck. His bigger size helps him make that first save and mobility helps track the second.
Jacob Toll | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | L | D | 6’2″ | 176 | Minnesota Duluth | 2024 | Rosemount, MN | 2004 | Free Agent |
Game Grade: B+
Toll earned 14:05 in ice time (6th among D) including 1:02 on the PK (4th among D) He did not play on the PP> He finished +1 with 1 goal, 1 shot, 1 grade “A” opportunity, received 1 hit, had 1 shot blocked, 2 giveaways, 7 takeaways and for the season he is winning 54% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Toll is a bigger sized defenseman likes to use his size to his advantage. He attacks the check and likes to finish guys along the wall. Scored a nice goal showing off his ability to create by getting the puck deep himself. After creating possession he went net front and tipped a puck from the point. He makes himself hard to play against by using his size and construct space and solved problems by assuming a different position.
Gennadi Chaly | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | R | D | 5’10” | 205 | Vermont | 2024 | Salekhard, RUS | 2005 | 2022-2023: C |
Game Grade: A-
Chaly earned 20:13 in ice time (1st among D) including 2:46 on the PP (1st among D). He did not play on the PK. He finished +3 (team high) with 1 goal, 1 assist, 1 shot, 3 hits (game high), received 1 hit, 7 giveaways, 6 takeaways and for the season he is winning 60% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Chalyi did a good job at scanning for threats, and generally adjusts his positioning accordingly. In transition, Chalyi uses the inside lane, looks off his target to bait forecheckers, and shows skill on the backhand and with puck position changing passes when pressured. He stretches the ice with two-line passes and is able to sneak a quick feed through a defender for a teammate building speed under the puck. In the offensive zone, he got his shots through from the point either with deception or simply purposely missing the blocker in tight.
Zach Nehring | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | R | F | 6’3″ | 182 | Western Michigan | 2024 | Minot, ND | 2005 | 2022-2023: B |
Game Grade: B
Nehring earned 12:52 in ice time (7th among fwds) including 0;03 on the PP. He did not play PK. He finished +2 with 1 assist, 2 shots, 2 grade “A” opportunities, 1 hit, had 1 shot blocked, 5 giveaways, 5 takeaways and for the season he is winning 45% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Nehring ability to play high-leverage minutes, kill penalties, and make life miserable for the opposition’s best. He is scrappy at the net front and will be physical along the wall. He is a strong off-puck defender, who tracks well through the neutral zone and makes proactive reads in the defensive zone with his head on the move and a quick jump on loose pucks. . He showed tonight that he takes good lines on the puck, leads with his stick, closes with force, and doesn’t give up on plays.
Chris Pelosi | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | L | C | 6’1″ | 181 | Quinnipiac | 2024 | Sewell, NJ | 2005 | 2022-2023: C |
Game Grade: A-
Pelosi earned 17:03 in ice time (4th among fwds) including 3:00 on the PP (team high). He did not play PK. He finished +1 with 2 goals, 3 shots, 1 grade “A” opportunity, 8/16 on face-offs, had 2 shots blocked, 4 giveaways, 6 takeaways and for the season he is winning 54% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Off the rush, Pelosi looks to beat defenders wide, then throw the puck back into the slot, to open teammates. He makes tons of short-range plays from the perimeter to the inside, occasionally slipping a puck through a defender on the backhand. He was able to show his skill this way creating offense in tight. And he shows similar skills off the cycle by catching pucks off the wall and attacking the middle of the ice looking to collapse the defense.
J.J. Wiebusch | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | R | C | 6’0″ | 168 | Merrimack | 2024 | River Falls, WI | 2004 | Free Agent |
Game Grade: A-
Wiebusch earned 22:35 in ice time (team high) including 2:46 on the PP (4th among fwds) and 2:26 on the PK (1st among fwds). He finished +1 with 1 assist, 2 shots, had 1 shot blocked, 8 giveaways, 3 takeaways and for the season he is winning 45% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Wiebusch Is a dynamic player through and through tonight. He likes to add the extra flash to every play. He beats defenders with head fakes, handling skills, and slick edges before cutting inside or finding a teammate posted in the slot. He starts the plays, builds them, and then puts the finishing touches on them. Showed tonight that he is capable of turning small area plays that looked like they should be shut down, into breaking down opponents with feints and deception before sending perfectly weighted passes to his teammates to do the rest.
Jaksen Panzer | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | L | C | 5’9″ | 185 | North Dakota | 2024 | Grand Forks, ND | 2004 | 2021-2022: C |
Game Grade: B
Panzer earned 19:56 in ice time (2nd among fwds) including 0:03 on the PP and 2:16 on the PK (2nd among fwds). He finished +1 with 1 goal, 1 assist, 10/21 on face-offs, 8 giveaways, 1 takeaway and for the season he is winning 50% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: He tries to send players into the fourth row of the stands on the forecheck and forces them into a line change on the backcheck. In the defensive end, he sprints directly to the point, leading with his stick and following with his shoulder. Simply put, he’s a menace. He was able to show tonight he has a capable one-timer, a quick in-stride wrister that he is able to get off his outside leg. With quick hands and a high pace during attacks, he beats overcommitted defenders to gain the inside lane.
Tyler Borgula | Sioux Falls Stampede | USHL | R | RW | 5’9″ | 164 | Quinnipiac | 2024 | Livonia, MI | 2005 | 2023-2024: C |
Game Grade: B+
Borgula earned 16:52 in ice time (6th among fwds) including 3:00 on the PP (tied for team high). He did not play PK. He finished +1 with 1 assist, 2 shots, 2 grade “A” opportunities, 1/1 on face-offs, 1 hit, received 1 hit, had 2 shots blocked, 5 giveaways, 3 takeaways and for the season he is winning 45% of his 50/50 puck battles.
Comments: Coupling dynamic edge work with proactive activation, Borgula dissects the forecheck. He shifts one way, explodes in the opposite, hits the open teammate, then flies up the rink to become a lead pass option. His speed and agility are huge factors in his game and his ability to avoid checks. In the offensive zone, Borgula controls the game. He was a volume shooter but rarely takes a poor one. He was able to make passing plays and fakes shots to set up teammates around the slot and created scoring chances this way. He has his head up a lot when handling the puck down low.
