Comments: The 17-year-old has seen his fair share of work since joining the Gamblers from the north American Hockey League and he showcases a nice use of depth and presence along with solid mobility and work ethic. The Slovakian native moves fluidly and is powerful, capable of beating plays on his feet and setting them. Although strong his movement is hindered once his feet widen outside of his base and causes him to scramble and not be as effective or precise. Although out of position at times he never gives up on pucks and battles showing a nice work ethic and mindset. At 6’1′ he uses depth to add size and increase presence, although at times too much causing his scrambling but can easily be nullified as he learns and moves forward. With a solid tracking ability his eyes lead his body, but he could benefit from more frequent scans to identify threats and ease his movement. Overall, the young Slovakian just has a few things to clean up and some adjusting to do to complete his already fundamentally sound and relatively complete skillset. Stopping 22 of 25 he and the Gamblers come up just short in the 3-1 loss. Grade: B+
Harrison Boettiger (G, L, 6’2″, 185, NTDP U18, 12/11/2007)
Game Rating
A
Harrison Boettiger’s gameplay showcases a technically sound approach, with effective weight control that creates a stable foundation for his overall performance. He excels at centering his body on pucks, releasing them into scoring opportunities, and maintaining composure in various situations. Boettiger is comfortable in his posts, particularly when dealing with reverse-angle shots, and demonstrates good mobility by staying on his feet even when faced with shoulder checks or puck possession. His ability to recover from a widened butterfly position suggests strong lateral movement.

Comments: The young 2007 born goaltender has a well-rounded set of fundamentals and a calm confidence to his abilities. The Wheat Ridge Colorado native makes great use of a stance differential and stays condensed. This enables him to move fluidly with power and be precise centering his body on pucks, as well as setting his feet on threats. His technical movement’s ability allows him to drop into pucks and straight down making reads off the blade from a great tracking ability. The Denver Pioneers commit does sometimes lose his hips, and they sink losing hip mobility and slightly hindering movement. His ability to seal the ice as well as holes through his body at a young age with body control is an elite skill. Controlling of rebounds and smothering them to his upper body eliminates second chance opportunities but he could benefit from a little more active stick. He takes frequent scans of the ice to read plays that also aids in his movement. Also comfortable around his posts and able to use an overlap, reverse, or maintain his feet gives him the tools to use them based on plays and make a read. A fundamentally sound and bright future for the young man leading the u-18’s to a 3-1 victory in Green Bay. Grade: A
