General Game Notes: Prince Albert @ Regina Pats. Prince Albert controlled the pace in this game, they had sustained pressure for the majority of the game and ran into a hot goalie. Regina had limited chances throughout the game but were able to score first late in the game, on an opportunistic play. Prince Albert brought the pressure for the remainder of the game scoring late in the game to tie it up. Both teams had some chances in overtime, both goalies played well in overtime, before Prince Albert sealed the win in the shootout.

Man excels at shutdown duties, using his size and physicality to neutralize opponents. He consistently finishes hard checks, often drawing reactions from the crowd and commentators. His positioning around the net is strong, allowing him to cut off scoring chances. Man’s compete level is notable, particularly during penalty kills, where he blocks shots with fearlessness. While there room for improvement in terms of foot speed and overall defensive awareness, his physical presence makes him a difficult opponent to play against.

Comments: Physical defenseman who uses size and strength effectively in the defensive zone. Made a smart pick on an opposing forward to allow his partner time to get to the net and start the breakout, showing strong defensive awareness. Continued to shut plays down low in the zone by pinning players along the wall and using his strength to win battles. Fought late in the second period, trying to provide a spark for his team. Is a simple defenceman that plays a shutdown role effectively.

Comments: Fast, intelligent defenceman with good offensive instincts. Found open space and released a hard one-timer that forced a strong save from the goaltender, placing the shot far side roughly a foot off the ice. Also showed strong defensive awareness in one-on-one situations by keeping his stick in lanes to disrupt passes and block shooting opportunities while maintaining a tight gap. Has smooth slating ability with some quick speed, which allows him to maintain gap control in the neutral zone.

Later in the game, he found a soft area in coverage, opened up to receive a pass, and finished a quick one-timer short side high to tie the game late in a 6 on 5 scenario. Has good size and is effective low in the offensive zone, with the ability to battle to the net and go to the dirty areas.

Comments: Playmaking forward with good vision, puck movement, and quick feet. Created a strong chance by delivering a pass from below the goal line into the high slot. Followed that with a cross-zone saucer pass to the weak-side defenseman, showing his vision and passing touch. Continued to move the puck well in the offensive zone and showed strong offensive awareness all game, creating chances for his team. Can improve in puck battles by being heavier on his stick, which can get him the puck more often, and further improvement in his defensive awareness may also help round out his game.

Comments: Smart forward with good hockey IQ and offensive awareness. Made a quick feed from the corner to the faceoff dot for a quality chance, showing he read the play before receiving the puck. Later used a drop pass on zone entry to draw the defence toward him, creating an open lane for trailing support before finding space in the slot for a hard one-timer opportunity. He has a hard one timer than can be effective offensively, and consistently used his speed to forecheck opposing defencemen, creating turnovers and uncomfortable plays.

Comments: Forward with strong edgework and awareness along the boards. Used his edges to escape pressure in the corner before making a play toward the net from the goal line. Later showed good scanning along the defensive-zone wall before retrieving the puck, identifying pressure and delivering a quick slip pass to the middle under pressure. Had good vision with the puck and consistently created plays on the breakout to have easy exits. Had good pace and controlled the puck well under pressure.

Comments: Athletic goaltender with quick movement, strong puck tracking, and high compete. Made multiple big saves early, including a 1-on-1 stop on the penalty kill, showing strong reads and patience. Later in the game he matched the attacker’s speed on a partial breakaway and made a sliding pad save to take away the bottom of the net. Continued to track pucks well through traffic, making a huge glove save on a slot shot after reading the play well and setting his feet. Showed his edgework in a cross-slot play when he stopped his push and slide to make a nice save against the grain. Added another big cross-crease sliding save through net-front traffic, showing quick crease movement. Controlled rebounds well for most of the night and managed the puck effectively, making simple tape-to-tape passes or hard rims to avoid turnovers. Stayed patient in the shootout; however, he allowed two goals above the pad after sealing the ice but not closing the angle enough with the glove or blocker. Overall, a strong performance, stopping 52 of 53 shots and keeping Regina in the game.

Comments: High-compete forward with strong puck pursuit. Showed effort and awareness on his own blue line by intercepting a pass and quickly transitioning up ice. Gained the offensive blue line, pulled up away from pressure to create space, and dropped the puck to the dot lane to create a 2-on-1 opportunity. Consistently stuck out for his compete, not only in the d zone but on the forecheck as well.

Comments: Quick, skilled forward with speed and puck skills. On the power play, he acted as the drop option, consistently gained the zone with speed and set up the powerplay in the offensive zone. He showcased his vision on an entry with a saucer pass to the wing through the middle of the zone showing his ability to make plays at speed as well.

Comments: Poised forward with good stick positioning and offensive patience. Entered the zone with control and showed poise by not forcing a play, waiting for a lane to open before attacking the middle for a quality shot. Displayed his defensive details by using strong stick positioning to take away a shooting lane and deflect the puck out of play on a good chance for PA. Has good stick details when in the D zone and broke up a few plays that could have been dangerous. Moved the puck well offensively and created a few good looks with his poise and puck handling.

Lansard is a dynamic forward with impressive skills on display. He consistently showcased his speed, agility, and ball-handling abilities throughout the game. His soft hands allowed him to create scoring opportunities in tight spaces, and he demonstrated creative vision in beating defenders to generate chances. Lansard also displayed strong compete level, using his strength to win battles for loose pucks at the net front.

Comments: Fast, smart forward with good shooting ability and puck skills. Later in the game, he used his speed to drive the back post and beat his defender to the net. Finished the play with strong puck skills and a quick release, taking an offside one-timer and placing it top shelf to give Regina a 1-0 lead. Managed the puck well with good puck handling and smart looks on breakouts and neutral zone plays.
