Craig Eagles played provincial hockey for 12 years as a steady, stay-at-home defenseman before majoring in Kinesiology and Education at the University of New Brunswick. He served as Head Coach of the Moncton Purple Knights men’s AAA hockey program for four seasons and also led the women’s program at the school for another. He then transitioned to Junior “A” hockey as a video and practice coach with the Moncton Beavers. Afterward, he returned to Moncton’s minor hockey level for four more seasons, first as an Assistant Coach and then as the Head Coach of the Moncton Pee Wee AA Hawks, where he won a Provincial Championship and received the Competitive Coach of the Year award in 2012.
In December 2016, Craig joined the QMJHL Central Scouting Agency as a regional scout for New Brunswick, a position he held until stepping away in June 2021. In the spring of 2017, he joined the Campbelltown Tigers of the Maritime Hockey League scouting staff, where he worked until 2020. He then joined the Fredericton Red Wings of the MHL, initially as a scout, and was named Head Scout of the organization in 2022. Alongside his career in hockey, Eagles is a high school teacher with an extensive broadcasting and writing resume. He began his broadcast career on Rogers TV New Brunswick in 2009 as a color analyst, a role he reprised for QMJHL coverage for six seasons. He started the Co-Coaches Corner Blog in 2012-2013, has written prospect articles and features for the QMJHL, and launched his own platform on the FDS Podcast Network (firstdownsportspodcast.com) under the #FDSHockey #InFocus moniker in 2019. Recently, Eagles provided coverage and analysis of the QMJHL Draft for Eastlink Community TV.
In June 2024, Eagles stepped away from his position with Fredericton to focus more on the QMJHL from a Neutral Zone perspective. Craig Eagles first joined Neutral Zone as a regional scout in October 2022, where he continues to provide coverage, analysis, and scouting reports on the QMJHL.
