On November 24th, 4 new commitments were announced for the Bishop’s University 2021/2022 roster. Bishop’s is a University in Quebec who was set to play at the U-Sports Level in the Réseau du Sport Étudiant du Quebec (RSEQ) conference this season. With the cancellation of U-Sports play in 2020, Bishop’s will have to wait until next season to make their debut in the league.
The 2021/2022 roster will include Aglae Rene De Cotret in net from the Champlain-Lennoxville Cougars who boasted an impressive .942 save percentage and 1.15 goals against average last season.
Up front, Bishop’s will acquire Jamie Aspropotamitis from the Ottawa Lady 67’s. Neutral Zone notes Aspropotamitis as having “strong stick skills and a high hockey IQ. She plays an aggressive game, driving the net hard and putting pucks on net. She has smooth hands and easily protects pucks as she drives through traffic.”
Bishop’s has put in a strong recruiting effort in Atlantic Canada, proven by the addition of 2 forwards from the region. First, Neleh Vigneault-Sargeant from the Bussy Auto Brokers Penguins in the Nova Scotia U18 AAA league will join the roster. From Neutral Zone’s scouting efforts, Neleh has been identified as a “high energy player who pushes the tempo of the game with her speed and physicality. She pursuers the puck hard, wearing down opponents with her strong forecheck and board play. She crashes the net hard and creates chaos and confusion for defenders.” The other Atlantic Canadian forward that Bishop’s will add is Chloe Hawes from Prince Edward Island. Chloe plays for the Mount Academy and is a well-known player on PEI. She was reported on by Neutral Zone as having “a high compete level and being a dominant offensive leader on whatever team she plays for. She has strong puck skill and plays with strength and power. She is difficult to knock off the puck and battles hard in all areas of the ice.” Chloe is sure to be an offensive threat at the University level.
