Neutral Zone attended the Firestarter Tournament in Calgary, Alberta from September 12th to the 15th. Sixteen Midget AAA teams were divided into four pools, with the pool winners advancing to the playoff round. The Edmonton Pandas beat the St. Albert Slash in one semifinal, while the Lloydminster Steelers beat the host Calgary Fire in the other semifinal. Lloydminster captured the championship with a hard fought 3-1 victory in the final. Teams from all four western provinces put on excellent performances for all the scouts and fans in attendance.
